New and Just Hung Up

With a new foot of snow landing throughout the day, it was the perfect time to finish quilting this whole cloth print. Facings are done, sleeve attached, and tomorrow after the snowplow has come, I'll deliver it. It'll travel Wednesday to its home in India, and I hope that it will be welcomed. 
 

On the Longarm

A friend's request had me suggesting a selection of whole cloth pieces, and I'm now quilting her choice. I love quilting what I've printed, as the road map is already there. Hope to finish soon, and am looking forward to staying in for the snowfall expected tomorrow. 
 

Time for More

I could save this and bring to my next workshop at QBL, but I thought the web store needed more. So it's been loaded and ready for you to see close up. I've more printing in the days ahead, especially when the days are so hot. Then I'm happy to be "cool" printing.
 

Waiting At Home

These layered prints wait for me to give them the final thumbs up or down. I'll be adding more to my website store in a week or so, as well as quilting some as whole cloths. 
 

Whole Cloth

"Nest Eggs" is here with the scale of people, walls and depth. It is printed on one piece of cotton with silkscreens. It's quilted, faced, and has a hanging strip, finishing at 42" x 42". It's happy to be seen with . all media here at the Made in New York exbibit.
 

Gene's Garden Plot

I've never referenced my family before in naming a piece, but somehow I felt this symbolized the garden my father would plant in spring. Can't think he ever ate eggplant, but grew a row for me. This'll go to San Francisco for the March 13 opening at Joe Cunningham's gallery space. 1803 Market Street.

 

Just Hung Up

Another whole cloth hung up and ready to join the growing group of printed pieces. It's 42 x 42. Still without a name, but that will appear at some point. On to the next.
 

Crows Roosting

My visit to Portland included a murder of crows stopping to rest in a park. It was such a great sight. This finished wholecloth reminded me of that sight, so the name sticks. It's 42" square, faced, and happy to claim this spot until it give over to the next.

 

Is It Just Silkscreen?

At 43" square, this whole cloth is printed mainly in silkscreen images. But underlaying is monoprint and scraping. Texture from the quilting helps the areas surrounding the frenzy to be not so plain. It's faced, sleeved, hanging. Next!

The Lineup Waits

That whole cloth waits for its sleeve, and there is another couple of compositions cooking on the wall as well. But I'll need that space for a workshop tomorrow, so I better get a record of that,  store it away for a bit, and get the decks clear.
 

How I Keep It Together

You see my new countertop with a generous peninsula. It's where I sew the facings. And I grab a kitchen tray to keep all the junk together to slide around. Even the tv remote rides there. My sewing kit is an old Tupperware style container. Had to be near what little daylight we get.
 

Back to the Longarm

It's a good day when the longarm starts humming. I've another whole cloth print on the machine which has a lock for the horizontal and vertical. Helps me to line up the top, which "floats" on the surface till I sew it to the batting and backing sandwich. Certainly makes quick work, no basting!
 

Add Another to the Pile

Since these are about 40" wide, I can put two on the longarm and quilt as a duo. So, here is the next whole cloth piece for the year. It's mostly silkscreen with a variety of techniques. I'm teaching a workshop in February 14 - 18 that includes all these ideas. Virtually for this one -- check the website. 
 

First of the Year

I've taken a whole cloth and quilted it. I've many more to do, but this is the start. It's about 38 x 40. 

 

Not Cutting This

Ready for the Suitcase

This whole cloth print (that I snagged from my webstore) is quilted and faced, ready to pop into the suitcase for Art Quilt Tahoe. I was asked to design a T-shirt for the retreat, and this was the image I used. The finished quilt will be auctioned for scholarships for AQT. So, if you're there, bid on it!
 

It's Just Find On Its Own

It could easily be a stand alone yard. But I've added this to the next improv piece. I've added others as well, and they're about to get mixed up. But this could stand alone. Or one I'd use to teach next week's Go Big, Go Bold class at Pro Chem.
 

To Thank a Friend

I wanted a way to thank friends who get me out of many big and little jams. As they are to be grandparents, I thought this would be one way to do that. They hope their new granddaughter will like this usable baby quilt; they already do.
 

Quilts for Small People

I've printed a couple of whole cloth pieces that will be made specifically for babies. It was easy to load on the longarm and sign. I'll finish tomorrow, bind, and then have something to work on whilst watching movies. I'll be wearing my pearls tomorrow regardless of what I'm doing.
 

Little Baby Play Quilt

This finished with a green and white stripey binding. It was machine sewn for durability, as it will go in the washer and dryer forever. And I forgot to measure it but it is just one of my printed pieces that is usually about 40" square. Wool batting makes the shipping light.
