On a Roll

Two for Tuesday was the assignment (though I just thought up the name) which was make two different compositions using the same starter motif. I got absolutely nutty with a three part motif. I found printing the solid leaf and the outline leaf absolute fun. Class had great images as well. Wash out tomorrow.
 

Plug and Play

With the design pinned to the design wall, the pieces (with the freezer paper templates ironed to the back) start to fill out the drawing. I've added in veins for this leaf, and mocked in the background fabric. It is always fun to see it become defined, instead of the blobby shape  I use for drafting.

Another Big Leaf

Mary's Big Leaf came out of class in Gorham, New York, with the Lake to Lake Quilt group. It is a energetic as Mary. Now to see how she finishes it...

Autumnal Leaves

Jean started it all when she asked abut the "Big Leaf" workshop. So, today we made leaves using freezer paper templates. Here her leaf is taking shape. Perfect day to be inside with quilting companions.

Jungle Plants Nearby

This amazing garden is in the local strip plaza. I am a sucker for big leaves, and this is just what I needed to see. It is tremendous, and if you are near Pittsford Plaza, take a stroll with your camera -- it is like wow.

Construction of "The Big Leaf"

No, this is not an alien. It is Mary working (at break neck pace, so too quick for me to capture) on her composition for "The Big Leaf". We had a ball here in the studio today and the fabric was flying. Now, if I could just remember to take more photos. Loved all the works, and great laughs.
