Needed a Large Wall

I am helping with  a concert which could use a backdrop, so I'm using my 8' high wall to mock up a curtain that will drape behind the performers. I have linen from Marimekko and have soda soaked and over printed it in a variety of blues. Next is to add length and sew together. Handy, that large wall.

Top Together

The sliding doors are the standard 6'8" so you have an idea of how wide this is -- a little over 8'.  I've finished the top, and now I'm on to the quilting. That alone is a chore.

Begin Again

I've started to pull fabrics for the next piece. I've been asked to add a quilt to an exhibition with the theme that encompasses "orange". Can't figure why, but I like a challenge. So, here's the start. And lord knows, I've more fabric still piled up!

Dropping in a Grid

I've combined the half yards and then split out foot square sizes to populate the design wall. I've added in the remaining half yard pieces, mostly, and started to get them integrated. Now it's time to move the blocks around and around. The dizzy part of this.

The Line-Up

Four Yards, here folded in half, were the basis for the next piece. I wanted enough fabric to get me to a larger size. I'll cut these yards in half and scramble the remaining halves.

Oh the Design Wall

I've not often this much clear space to layout. Or maybe it's because these works are smaller, and I can have a few at once. Second set is made, using just about all four fat quaters in a 10 1/2 square. I've another set to make. Just to try a variant.

The Room Where it Happens

I've got an old Bernina atop my table for quick seams, a long design wall, and another Bernina for long sit-down seams. The pile under the table holds the fabric I've printed that I've deemed "special" to use for my own work. Pretty much where it all happens.

On the Wall

Glad to be home from the Canadian prairies and sort out the suitcases. I've cleared a space, and while doing so, these fabrics got in my wake. On the wall they're worth a glance.
