Today Was Red Day

Our group photo was in shades of red. My QSDS class is held on the campus of the Columbus College of Art and Design and my room is a fabulous amount of space for each person to spread out to work, complete with a large design wall. I couldn't ask for more.

In the Meantime, In Between Time

This is about 2' x 2'. I'm getting a few smaller works in the queue to take when I teach at QSDS this June. I've planned a great week of "Design Camp" where we start with small works and work into larger, more complex ones. So, this is starting small. Well, medium.

Improv Sketches

I'll be taking  a few small works on the road, or sending to auction. So, I've leftover bits to assemble, cut apart, reassemble, recombine. Not Being Alone

During the class, minds collaborate. Getting feedback is the best, and working side by side is a benefit -- seeing your work through another person's vision. I'll miss these people. If these friends could just walk through my studio once in a while, it would be so great.

Homework for Next Week

QSDS is next week, and I'll be teaching all design all day. I'm taking time to do a dry run on some ideas, and consequently, warm up my improv skills. Still room in the class -- come join us!

Doin My Homework

I'm warming up with an exercise I'll show next week for a class in Arizona. It will also be a part of my class in June at the Quilt Surface Design Symposium in Columbus, Ohio. The play's the thing, you know.

Home for a Brief Visit

I'd sent my Quilt National 2017 entry to Athens, Ohio last fall, and now it has been returned. I'll enjoy it for a few months -- its over my couch now -- and send it back to the Dairy Barn later this spring. I'll give you a peek tomorrow. Maybe.

Quilt Surface Design Symposium

The Quilt Surface Design Symposium has asked me to teach two classes this June. Both are built around designing improvisationally, and set out to design strictly from the materials at hand. It's In the Mail

Well, actually on the UPS truck. I've got nine works on their way to the Lake Metroparks Farmpark 25th Quilt Show in Kirtland, Ohio. I'll check on them, as well as teach March 7- 13. Scope out the show at http://lakemetroparks.com/events/quilts2016.shtml. It runs from February 12 to March 23. Plenty of time to visit.

Ohio in March

I'm bringing this little quilt I call my Skinny Line Leaf to the series of workshops planned for Lake Metroparks in Ohio next March. Today was photo day for this, as well as deadlines for workshop descriptions. Advance planning -- can I package the summer sun for the ides of March?
