It's Sunday Art Time

Quilt for a Full Moon

Today at the Munson Williams Proctor Institute to see the quilt exhibition there. Made in 1922, this quilt looks totally black, but my camera shows the variation in the cloth. The stand-in for tonight's full moon, this pitch dark work suggest (to me) the stars in the night sky.

The Great and Famous Two

Will Rogers visited Naples, New York and performed at the fair. This photo that I printed from the glass plate negative, taken and signed "Widmer". What fun to have a darkroom back in the late 1970s. Negative from a private collection.

Up Close

If you have not seen this work, now on view at Windsor Whips Gallery, then here is a closeup of Pink Leaf 4 (Yellow). It shows lots of surface work, silk-screening, mono-printing, over painting, stamping, as well as applique and machine quilting. Might sound like a cacophony of techniques, but the result is cohesive.

The Big Leaf in Bristol Springs
