Just a Look Back

The pin-board outside the studio door is a great display opportunity. This is a baby gift made from a yard of my printed fabric. It was quick to quilt, and I used a binding for it's function to protect the edges. Instead of hand sewing the binding, it is stitched and zig-zagged. Needs to be durable!
 

There's a Place for Functional

I get caught in the abstraction of my work forgetting that the processes I use are part of a traditional craft. Both the sheet and blanket are from me, and have been used and put through many washings. And, in this case, it's the function that counts. 
 

Another Little One for Another Little One

I made a couple of these prints and placed them side by side on the longarm to quilt. That gave me a chance to try some creative quilting.  This will go to a friend's newborn, and I hope that they remember it's functional -- and wear it out!
 

To Thank a Friend

I wanted a way to thank friends who get me out of many big and little jams. As they are to be grandparents, I thought this would be one way to do that. They hope their new granddaughter will like this usable baby quilt; they already do.
 

It's All Scale

This giant baby takes up all the horizon and dwarfs the background sculpture. She also is laying on the quilt I made for her. Guess what happens when you wash hot and tumble dry wool batting? Perfect scrunch effect.

Quilting a Baby Quilt

You always need a quilt, right? Thought I'd gift a little quilt for my baby daughter who will be 29 tomorrow. Here are 50 seconds of the quilting action on my longarm.

Family Matters

It was time to make a little quilt for my grand daughter to play on. I took a yard of printed fabric, and went to town. I smiled all the way, running a drawn stitch over the polka dots. Nothing too precious, just a play quilt for fun.

Tryouts

I've yet to make a "baby quilt" specifically for my grand daughter, so I thought I'd just put together two fabrics and send off as a test. That is, can it stand up to lots of washing, dragged around, folded in a heap, driven over in the parking lot. Been there, that's the test of time.
