Often, show photos edit out the room's interruptions. In reality, there are conduits, pillars, wall dings and the like. I've other settings with pristine museum quality installations, but this is reality. Oddly, when viewing, all the extraneous bits disappear. Must be the art is that intriguing. It's so rare to have work hung with such an amount of white space around it. The lighting is perfect, the juxtaposition of the works develops a dialog among the pieces, and each piece is allowed to breathe. If only each exhibition could afford to treat the works with such dignity.
My work was installed today at Nu Mvmnt here in Rochester. The space is a facility for yoga, pilates, and dance. And, for those art lovers, it has an expanse of gallery wall space perfect for two dimensional work. I'll be there for the First Fridays in August and September for gallery open night.
