Workshop Lecturer

Ariane Zurcher talks to her online workshop via Zoom today, explaining what she did to make this monoprint. The linen is about 5' square. She explored every which way to print, and took on the techniques in a very different way. Studio returns to quiet tomorrow. Will miss her!
 

Mastering the Monoprint

Ariane Zurcher is working in my studio this week and has been monoprinting some large linen works at about 60" square. Here she is scraping color through after the first pull is a bit dryer. It's been fun to see a very different take on handling large monoprints. And she'll take this further in her own studio later.
 

Go Big, No Bigger

My guest artist is making a board for rubbing. Here Ariane wields a hot melt glue gun on a rather large heavy paper board. I didn't even have to suggest she make it large. It'll add the texture she is looking for in her equally large prints. 
 

Ariane is in the House

Friend and artist Ariane Zurcher is working in my studio this week and got started with thickened dyes. Her style is more painterly, and I trust that her explorations will, no doubt, emerge to resemble the collage work that she loves. Should be a fun ride.
 

My Linen Fabric

It's All Thanks to Ariane

 Ariane Zurcher has many talents, and one is featured on her YouTube channel "On the Other Hand" which is about improvisational stitching. She is fond of my linen printed fabric, urged me to add some to my website, and then told her patrons. In one day, I sold out. Well, thank you Ariane!

Linen Ironed and Ready

I promised Ariane Zurcher that I'd print and dye some linen in response to her classes in hand stitching. They are now ready to be "quartered" and then photographed and added to the web site store. So, in a couple of days. Then I've got to get ready for other things!
 

Don't Get Too Excited

My small supply of linen is now ready to color. I say don't get too excited because: 1. you are seeing it wet, and therefore much much darker than it will be in the finished fabric, and 2. I have to go through all of the linen to print, then photograph, then add to the website store.
