Blue Tape is My Guide

I'm finaly getting the three little quilts finished and ready to send out to Crafty Monkies this week. I needed to quilt just up to the finished line as well as leave ample fabric beyond that line. After placing the  pattern sized to the finish measure, I taped around the edge to guide the last bits of quilting.

Crafty Monkies Begins TODAY

Wintertime I filmed how I printed fabric, designed, sewed and quilted a set of three blocks for Crafty Monkies. The recordings are now live on their website programs. It was challenging, but I learned a lot. You might too! (starting today) at https://www.craftymonkies.com/vip-202627-member-club-info

June is Me on Crafty Monkies

Some may know that I'm part of a series of monthly features with Crafty Monkies. And best is that I'll be the first presenter in June. I'll print, design, sew, quilt and give advice in between. Video for the Monkies

Crafty Monkies has asked me to be a part of a project that involves 6 fiber artists. We were to film our design and execution of three blocks that will be joined and shown at some future date. My filming was in January, but one of the parts needed reshooting, so I stepped back in time and did my part.

Tweeking

I'm trying to get these three blocks ready to ship to Crafty Monkies for the project that involves five other fiber artists. I needed to unpick stitches that were over the given size for this block, and also add quilting up to that line (pinned to delineate). Tedious is something I hate, but I know this needs my attention.

Third Block

At 18" square, this one might be my favorite. It has the raw strokes of the printed mark, some of the 'print the table' action, and a bit of improv piecing. I've only to mark the corners and send it off to England. It will be some time before it is combined, but that's fine. I'm happy to finish this before spring shows.

Second Block

The smallest block meant for the collaborative quilt measures 9 x 18. I've pieced the heart, the thin lines, and the rest relies on the printed fabric. The red of the heart is cut from printed fabric.

One Down

The block I made in the "Make It & Break It" method turned out swell, so that's finished and ready to go. It's be a 'block' as part of a group quilt, and this one is 18 x 27 It's part of a project for Crafty Monkies, which I'm nearly finished with. Ya Hoo!

Here's the Fun

As a demonstration of improv and using templates, I took last week's prints and combined a few to make this large blog. Those who know my 'ways' know what I'll do next. With luck, it'll be finished tomorrow, and then you'll see how it has been tamed.

Project Progress

I've been working on a project with Craft Monkies which included making three blocks for a group quilt. All or these fabrics were printed for the project, and I filmed making them. Now it's time too put the into blocks. The frames indicate the sized of the blocks -- a tool I find extremely helpful

More Printing

I've continued with demos for Crafty Monkies today. Printing the screens, adding rubbings, talking motif, and mixing color were all that went into my rambling thoughts as I printed one after another. Can't wait to wash out to see the dye strength, Tomorrow!

Try On for Size

I've cut frames to edit three block sizes for the project I've sign on for. They are 9 x 18, 18 square, and 27 x 18. These do fit -- just -- on a piece of my printed fabric, but leave no room for choosing different sections. It's a demonstration for selecting compositions that are compelling.

Project for Crafty Monkies

I'm still playing around with glue here to see if it's usable to screen print. Crafty Monkies has gathered a half-dozen artists to create a work, as well as document how it was created. So, I'll be starting that soon. The theme is "Where is the Love" so I had a go at script. I'll keep you posted.

Zoom Project Crafty Monkies

A group from two countries zoomed. Invited by Rachel Pierman of Crafty Monkies to collaborate on a work around a theme, five artists talked logistics, themes, design strategy, and timeline. With spirited and thoughtful comments, because we are all independent thinkers,  we came together with a plan.
