Finger Lakes Fiber Artists

I belong to a small and diverse group of fiber artists (Finger Lakes Fiber Artists) that gets together every couple of months to share work, their goings on, and information on exhibitions, opportunities, and professional well-being. Plus, it's just a nice group of friends.

FLFA Meeting

A meeting of the Finger Lakes Fiber Artists was today at the Schweinfurth. There was a lot to see, all so well done. We meet every two to three months, grab some tips and pass on new things to know about, and hear about plans for future workshops and such. Always worth packing up some things to share.

Quilts=Art=Quits Again

After the meeting of the Finger Lakes Fiber Group, I went downstairs to the Schweinfurth's exhibit of contemporary quilts. This time, the crowd was sparse, and I could focus on the work. Plus, friends were there to bounce ideas around on the how, why, and ifs that are always brewing. Get there if you can!

Meeting of the Minds

I belong to a fiber group that meets ever couple of months. We bring work, swap ideas, get feedback. There's always good energy, which is essential. Hope you all have a group too.

Fiber Friends

We all have friends that gather who share our interest. The Finger Lakes Fiber Artists meet every couple of months and look at work, work through some technical questions, and question what makes a good piece. If you have even one other who offers that feedback, stick with them -- you're a group.

Sunday Go To Meeting

The Finger Lakes Fiber Artists group gets together every couple of months to look at work, talk about projects, and encourages like minds to continue work in fiber. Bookended by Bev's quilt and my unfinished top, Noel explains how she works with her silk in blocks.

Meeting Finger Lakes Fiber Artists

Every couple of months FLFA gets together and encourages. What? Yes, encourages. To be public, to make work, to try out new processes, to learn about the goings on. Oh, and the impromptu show on the walls were things we share. That as well. Great group.

Hanging with the Peeps

One reason I was in Auburn, NY and the Schweinfurth Art Center this past weekend is that the Finger Lakes Fiber Artist group meets there every couple of months. If there is work to talk about, great because just seeing what a bunch of fiber artists can do with cloth and thread is always interesting.

Meeting of the Minds

The group Finger Lakes Fiber Artists meets every few months to share and encourage each other to continue work in fibers. Most often, the works are art quilts, but other processes and techniques are brought to the table, or in this case, the wall.

Meet the Artists

The Finger Lakes Fiber Group put work in the May Memorial Church near Syracuse, and we got (most of us) in a group shot today. The opening coincided with a pot luck lunch, so we were both treated as well as the treat.

Explain Yourself

The Finger Lakes Fiber Artists met today and Julia Graziano shared how she came to design this quilt. About a dozen members met, each one working so differently from another, but all excited about fiber work.
