After Party is finished, with the exception of the signature, and hung up. It will be in a group show this summer, and I'll deliver it in May when I'm at the Schweinfurth Art Center for a week of printing fabric. There are a few spots left (May 5-9), and I'm looking forward to teaching on 'home turf' for a change.
Contemporary Art Quilter Pat Pauly's random thoughts and excursions made public.

Ok, Top is Together
Don't tell the class I've finished this top. It was made in the Columns Class, and I'll talk about it at our reunion. But I thought you could see it first. Yes, the structure is made of columns. One of my virtual classes. I'm calling it "Go Fly a Kite" for now.

Top is Finished and Packed
This top will travel mid Januaryy to Napa and the Craft Napa workshops there. It's about 7' square. I'll use if for all my classes, but mostly the "Line, Shape, Setting" one for how to handle unique fabric you might chance cutting into.

Float Your Shape, Sweetheart
As a piecer I'm always looking to set in a shape just where I want it, not necessarily where it is easiest to fit. I'm getting adept at plopping it down and then melting it in. See, I've got "ears" attached to this shape, and common cuts to set it in. Part of the "Line, Shape, Setting" class.

Do Your Excercise
A simple four patch is part of the class I'll be teaching in Brisbane, Australia later this month. So, here's the start. Just ideas for starting compositions, this is one in the class "Dozen Ways: Design for Art Quilts." The packing has begun!

Right Hand Side
I never know what I'll add. I'll think it is all finished and decided, and then some odd bit will make its way in the composition. This piecing is definitely a reaction to the recently finished pieces where there were few joins, few small pieces.

Pieces of Parallax
An installation shot of "Parallax / Views of Contemporary Quilt Artists" where this exhibit will be on view here in Rochester, New York until June 25. Then the nineteen works disperse and return to be seen around the globe. What a thrill to be able to work with such talented artists, to put this show together.

Resistance (or lack thereof)
Sometimes it helps to just piece work without the distraction or addition or beauty of color and pattern. Not something I normally do, but if told, I will do it. So, makes you wonder why I do things I am told to do without wanting to do them. That would be the opposite of resitance. Right?
