Fiber Fair in San Francisco

I don't have the proper name for this event, forgive me on that. It was vendor after vendor of rich textiles, crafted beauties, vintage clothes, millinery, jewelry, and ethnic textile. The museum quality quilts offered at Julie Silber's table had this as the backdrop. A show stopper for my Saturday starter.
 

San Francisco After My Heart

Should I ever own a store, the front would look like this. San Francisco hold many delights with surface design, graphic design, architectural design, you name it. This 'sprout' caught my attention. Many of you who've printed with me know my love of botanical motif. I'll take this one to my screens.
 

Bit of Travel

I can't leave California spirit yet, though I'm home. An entire day was looking at art, and mainly female artists. The Mary Cassatt exhibition was at the Legion of Honor, a grand place in itself. I tried to capture the Golden Gate Bridge in my meager shot, and it'll hold the memory of that landscape.

 

Glitterati in the Hills

Part of travel is taking in the spice and flavor of the city. I was fortunate to attend an "unveiling" at the studio of Margaret Fabrizio in San Francisco. With a crowd cheering, Margaret uncovered two new works and thanked those who had gifted her diverse matrial. It was a lovely afternoon, and unexpected.

Full Moon in 'Frisco

Just before I left San Francisco, and evening walk revealed this (nearly) full moon. The streets are wonderful, colorful, varied. Architectural details are everywhere. So, a true designer's dream. I'll return more often, should I be able.

Ever the Print Element

Joe Cunningham was kind to take me to a hill above San Francisco to take in the panorama. One step left and this grated fence appeared. All I could think of was how I would use it for printing. So, the mind continues to workout methods and techniques, even when shown the wonder of this landscape.
 

Joe's Gallery

We spent today catching up on computer tasks. Joe at his spot, me behind the gallery desk. My view was of my work. So odd, but so nice for me to be able to show my work. Thank you to Joe and Carol, his wife, for hosting me in San Francisco, and for giving me the opportunity. 

One Two Many

Ready for the Sunday crowd, my work is hanging in Joe Cunningham gallery. This will be up for a month in San Francisco in his studio gallery at 1803 Market Street. I got to meet Joe's supportive friends and see many of my friends who made the trip for the opening. Thanks to all who were there!

 

San Francisco Starts

Landing in San Francisco to install my work in Joe Cunningham's studio and gallery. There'll be an opening Sunday night, wine included, from 4 to 7. If you're there, stop in. If you're visiting in the next month or so, contact Joe Cunningham to see my (and his) work. 

Runway of Love

Patrick Kelly's fashion exhibition is at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. Yes, it's light hearted, and yes, it's fashion, but yes, it's textile and PRINTING. So, I'm just thrilled to see pattern, shape, and three dimension design.
 

Full Snow Moon (of course)

This bowl with rabbit conveys the  Snow Full Moon. From a Mimbres Artist of New Mexico dated  1100 it reminds me of the moon's  stark white light cast on a blanket of snow. And here at home, yes, there is a snow moon. From the San Francisco de Young museum.

Heading Home

Gray skies across the Bay Bridge on route to the San Francisco airport didn't stop me from my journey and return to the east coast. I'll stop briefly in Baltimore before heading to Rochester. And remember the landscape I have just met.

Oh to Be De Young

San Francisco, where you want to be young, or at least visit De Young. The ethnographic art is beautiful, and this Inuit piece is most lyrical.

Touchind Down

This morning was devoted to touching the Pacific. A walk at the National Seashore meant miles of uninhabited landscape, clear sky, and sandy pathways. This is mid-January in San Francisco.
