Wide and Stitched

"Genesee" is now installed at the Stitched exhibit in Memphis. Made to withstand outdoor weather it is made with denier nylon and synthetic fabrics. Large? 24 feet wide by 12 high.

Signature Please

I've always signed my work on the front, usually by embroidering my name. This work was made with luggage grade nylon and was too stiff and difficult. So, I let the longarm do the work.

Reacquainting With an Old Friend

I've got my large work "Genesee" out of storage and hung up to unfold. I'll check it over, redo the hanging mechanism, and ship it off next week for exhibition in Memphis. It surprised me with how the sewn line was so expressive. I must have been in a talkative mood when I made it.

Patchwork Wall

My Memphis visit this last week had a view of Graceland. I was taken with the autographed wall out front. A patchwork of subtle color, with signatures from admirers.

Birthday at 30,000 Feet

The steward brought me a second cup of coffee and stroopwafel. Then, before we landed, this bundle. It was another stroopwafel (a favorite) and a large Batman pin. Oh, and a United Airways wings pin. Along with the view of the Manhattan skyline, the best presents today.

Can't say how much it meant to see the finished leaves, and well done, too! The Uncommon Threads Quilt Group is indeed uncommon. They're welcoming, warm, great fun, and terrific students. Many thanks for my friends in Memphis.

Work Day

It was. a work day / make day / quilt day today. Studio Nysha was the spot to try out the New Big Leaf, and the intrepid that made their way to the Memphis area. We'll return Monday to try something new and challenging. Tomorrow is for recharging.
