Here Comes the Sun

Happy New Spring! A look back to the International Museum of Folk Art from Santa Fe for this delight. The works there are rich in motif, color, pattern, and yes, whimsy. I got in a short walk today, but didn't see any of these critters. It'll have to climb out of the 30s for that to happen. 
 

Spring?

I'm plenty fine to wait to get spring cleanup underway. I've too much still to tackle in the studio. Good think I don't see these as I come and go from the back door. Then I'd have to clean them up!
 

Green Up

We're just about to burst in green trees, and this patch of flowers will give way to the next and next that will start to bloom. Rain will continue, for days at 100% (don't remember that being a forecast!) till we're in full on leaf out.
 

Even If You Haven't Gardened

Social media has posts flowing about "getting out to garden" and now is that transitional time where people are anxiously waiting to dig, plant, get warm. I can't say why I am drawn to leaves, botanical things, or just natural lines, but they do show up in my work. Here's waiting for warm.

End of Winter

A much missed lawn has emerged, and as I walked around the house I could see where winter has receded, allowing new growth to show. Guess it all works out, regardless of what we think.

Ah, Spring

As I delivered work that for next week, I had to stop and take in these perfect cherry blossoms. They were all pointing downward, so standing underneath them looking up I was face to face to face. What a greeting. What a day.

It Should Be Spring

If you can't have spring, you can force it. I clipped these from friend Nancy's yard between the wind storm and the snow storm. For a few days I can cheat nature and have my forsythia.

Think Spring

For all those who feel as I do -- which is "Now we take down the decorations and endure the winter" and long for spring, well, here is spring. Courtesy of my neighborhood Ace Hardware store.

Get Outside

I've had my head stuck in a dye pot, so with this crisp spring day facing me, it was time to get out. This Sycamore tree, with its double branching, had me thinking more about duality, or opposing shapes. For me, this is a recurring theme.

We Pause For a Little Break

Well, actually, a bend. My "head" you have seen many times. My planter head got beaned by the falling ice and the gutter. So, not much work in the studio -- instead I dug out the ice that had caused the collapse. Can we have some spring?
