Happy Solstice

This will have to be the stand-in for the earth's rotation from the darkest day of the year, on to the increase in daylight (it's my silk scarf, of course) and a bookmark for the winter solstice. If there's a party, go for it.

I'm trying work before the sun creeps up half of this design wall. Yes, welcome solstice sun, and yes, please don't bleach out my fabric. I've turned, taken down, and repositioned works to get out of direct light. And tomorrow the light will start its retreat. Happy Turnaround Day!
 

Chill Out Solstice

The longest day calls for some break in the action. And beside, I'm spoiling you all with videos. Tomorrow is set-up day for Virtual Print and there'll be no lazing about then. Happy Solstice!

Solstice Light

It was an evening to spend counting down daylight from a tall roof, and best I could think of was the top of the Genesee Brewery. With a beer in one hand and camera in the other, I waited for a train to cross the bridge over the Genesee Falls. Now for summer.

Just the Solstice

The postal service's sheet of the total eclipse of the sun reminds us that we will always be in awe of the sun and its many versions. But today we look forward to marking the end of our short day and long night. Happy Solstice!

Happy Solstice

It was "Make Music Day" in Rochester, so I did. I joined the Golden Link Folksinging society next door to Rochester Contemporary Art Gallery and helped to compete with the loudspeaker across the street. We all had fun.

Solstice Light

The morning before the solstice, the sun rose behind these maples, and the dark sky did tricks and wonders, changing each leaf to a lit candle. I'm always happy to see the winter solstice, and to welcome the return to a longer day.

Solstice

Had to stay out past the sunset, and was greeted by this solar light. Capturing the energy from the sun is not such a bad idea.
