At the de Young in San Francisco last week I took in the Art of Manga, an exhibition of drawings used in graphics and Japanese comic novels. The images are complex, engaging, full of symbolism that is part of the "read" and is defined as a 'genre' rather than a style. Big crowd, young, absorbed.

New Tools from Old
When our group gets together, we share new ideas with tools. Liz explained how ink pens can be used to create a watercolor effect. And seeing how she used her sketchbook with them was a great illustration.
