A friend commisioned a few pillows from the studio. I'd thought a botanical theme would fit her personality, as well as a 'heavy on the purple' scheme. I'll visit her tomorrow and hope that a couple will be suitable. They were fun, regardless.
Contemporary Art Quilter Pat Pauly's random thoughts and excursions made public.

Getting the Dyes Ready to Print
Pro Chemical and Dye ships in a day for me, and I love their service. I'll pick two reds, two blues, two yellows, a black and chartreuse for my palette. I find I can get most every color I need from these eight. I'll mix each with pro print paste (Pro Chem product) to make 3/4 quart for a week's printing.

I'm Ready
Monday I'll virtually welcome a class for Glorious Printers. I finished my setup a day ahead. All I need to do is plug in the computer and cameras. I've got loads of fabric ready, and dyes mixed. There's always a discovery for me each time I teach printing. That's the reason I can't wait.

To Thank a Friend
I wanted a way to thank friends who get me out of many big and little jams. As they are to be grandparents, I thought this would be one way to do that. They hope their new granddaughter will like this usable baby quilt; they already do.

Monoprinting Heaven
We ended the day with monoprinting. It's one of my favorite ways to make a mark and print on fabric. Must be because it often related to the hand drawn mark. Can't get more organic than that.

Washing Out After a Steam Bath
I'm trying a new method of washing excess dye from the cloth by steaming. First I'll wrap in a sheet of Pellon interfacing. We'll see how it goes in the steam bath.
