Turn the Tables, er, Design Wall

I've been watching five women work on design walls this week, and one of them sent this portrait of me and my design wall. It's the end of the day, the lights are dimmed, and time to reflect. Always a good learning space. Always. 

Two for the Price Becomes One

These, I'm told, are about 42" high. I'm only able to see them virtually, but I'm definitely in the room as they are being built. The third day of Abstract Design class seems to be chugging along. And we are all learning, that's certain. So, two distinct sides, one big learning experience.

Graphic Design in Abstract Quilts July 13-17 Workshop

2020 is the year I've planned an excursion/immersion to delve into graphic design and the impact it has on abstract quilts. In conjunction with an exhibit of my work this summer at Rochester Institute of Technology, I'll be teaching a class that uses the archives and collections at RIT. What It is All About

Yes we come together for a week, and yes we work hard to learn to advance out skills, and yes we invest time and energy. But we share and share and share. With classmates, with strangers, with close friends. I did, my students did, and now you know too.

Landing at Fibre Forum in Geelong

I'd no idea this school was so beautiful, historic, and charming. My residence is at left, the dining hall to the right. With a day of class behind me, I can see that we can cover a massive amount of improv design. I love this!

Just One More

I'm trying to squeeze in one more work before I leave for the Rock Mountain Quilt Museum's workshop and lecture in about a week. So, on to the design wall and some printed fabrics. This will be about 3 x 3.

Two printed pieces I've pulled to do my next work. They are interesting in themselves, but let's see if I can't slash and burn these into something more.

Her Smile Says It All

I love this shot of digging in to work, and loving the challenge at hand. I've spent three days teaching a room packed to the gills with great people in Augusta Maine. We took on improvisational design, composition, and techniques for transferring designs. All good.

Checking on My Work

The Annual 6x6 fundraiser at Rochester Contemporary asks artists to donate a piece 6" x 6" that they sell for $20 regardless of what it is. My two works, closest to the right edge, one kinda orange, one kinda blue, both sold. That's good. More funds to run the joint.

I'll Take Manhattan

Can't remember if the final version got posted. So, here is "I'll Take Manhattan." In reality, the color is uber saturated, and yes, that is green plaid. I started it during the taping of my DVD through Quilting Arts, and thought the pieces deserved to be used in a work.

Gift Ideas from Yours Truly

Unbelieveable, but some have watched this more than once! My DVD is available through the Quilting Arts web site (you can find the link at right) and makes a great watch while you roast chestnuts. Just sayin'.
