I've set the studio to its rightful orientation after hosting a printing class. With a returned quilts from Shop One, and a platter full of bottled water, I'm ready for First Friday at Studio 301. My guess is that most of my faithful readers are not in Rochester, NY, but should you ever visit, I'm happy to meet you here.

First Friday Fab Four
Shameless self-promotion not from me, but a great group who stopped in to visit on First Friday. What fun, especially with one who shares my birthday. I'll have to send him a birthday card! The best laughs I've had all week, this is a great crew.

First Friday Frivolity
First Friday had a live band down the hall, loads of folks oblivious to the 20 degree temperature (hey, it stopped snowing!) and looking for a chance to get out of the house and shake off the company of the holidays. I rehung the gallery walls, cleared off the tables, and opened a box of cookies. Feast!

New and Just Hung Up
Even without its name, it's up and happy to greet me. I have two walls that will take a piece this size, and they are easy to rehang. I'll take this on to the studio for First Friday, as well as the Blue Ice Leaves one. If you're in Rochester, find me 6-9 at the Anderson Arts Building on 250 N. Goodman Street. Studio 301.

First Friday & I'm Open!
I've gotten this large work combined and now the quilting awaits. Just in time to clear this design wall, sweep around the work stations, and get ready for First Friday. I've not been around for the last couple of months, and tomorrow will be a long lingering light of day, packets of oreos, and an open Studio 301.

First Friday
The view from the farthest corner of my studio after visitors have taken a cookie and gone on to the next studio. It was a nice evening, and lots of people came and did the loop around. A few mentioned that they hadn't seen fiber work in town much. So, this will be my community service -- spreading the fiber cause.

First Friday Visitors
I have no idea who this is, or to whom he is talking. But it seemed that he could drop in from the hallway, see my work, and continue his chat all in the same sweep. He left still on his phone. That's OK, I was at the cutting table listening to jazz and slicing away.

*Gasp* Double Post
First, if you're in or around Rochester, New York, Friday is "First Friday" where I'll have Studio 301 open house along with the rest of the city's offerings. Find me 250 N Goodman Street in the Anderson Arts Building, third floor. 6 to 9
Second, tonight I got to hear the wonderful Robin Ruth Long talk about her work with mariner's compass blocks. She's a master at building these, and a fabulous speaker. A treat to meet up with her again. And it was at the Alling Coverlet Museum, even better among this historic collection.

Totality Eclipse Preclipse
I change the pinwall each time I'm in in the studio. Time for me to start thinking about the total eclipse of the sun that will take place here in Rochester on April 8. I might save this for the Open House for First Friday. Join me 6-9 this Friday. Studio 301, Anderson Arts Building, Anderson Ave corner Goodman.

Printing for the Storm
Snow landed, briefly, in town, so yes, there was a 'storm', but it was mainly in the print studio. I'll be showcasing these silk scarves for the First Friday open house at Studio 301. Any left, and there should be plenty, will travel with me to Art Quilt Tahoe. And snow there is fine, too!

Open House for First Friday
And this is how it looks picked up! There is not much difference from working to anticipating company. Oh, well, there ae snacks around, I'm more dressed up, and I've neatened the fabric piles, but that's about it. Tonight was First Friday and there was a lively group of people who came visiting.

First Friday
My Studio 301 is part of the Anderson Art Building and participates in First Friday where art studios and galleries and exhibitions are open with artists there to explain whatever is asked. It's fun, strange, unexpected, and voluntary. If I remember to stop and visit Judy on the way out, I grab a cookie.

New and Just Hung Up
Game Night is over 9 feet wide, I think, and happy to be hanging out in the studio. I've got a free design walls going, and love that I've got this week to do some work on them. Friday is a First Friday, so I'll get more out to populate the walls.

In Time for First Friday
It always takes twice as long as you think. Why I don't remember this rule -- well -- it would help. Tomorrow I'll sweep up a bit and accept guests who drop in for Rochester's First Friday events. I'm in studio 301 with this monster, my little portrait is upstairs in 402 for a show. Split personality!

Just Put a Frame Around It
Studio Neighbor Lynn is checking out how my work would look with it stretched. Just for laughs. This Friday is another First Friday and I'll change out the yard of fabric outside Studio 301. If you're around Rochester, New York, it's a fun night to see ALL the open studios. But I'll have chocolate.

Alien Walking Her Dog
Studio 402 has a portrait show each January. It's fun, filled, fabulous. This "Alien Walking Her Dog" will be there for the opening this Friday, January 6 from 6-9. It's at the Anderson Art Building just above my studio 301. Yes, I'll be there in my studio while the party is going on in 402.

Yes, There was Music
David Russell brought his autoharp and ukulele for the First Friday. So, there were cookies, snacks, wine, water, scarves, linen, printed yards, and all the rest. And a lovely wonderful music woven throughout the night.

Which One?
First Friday brings guests to the studio, and these two are dyed-in-the-wool rug hookers. So, they appreciate unique works. They were happy to find my stash of cottons and linen to use on the next project. And we know we all need something to look forward to.

Time is Now
I've rearranged teh studio a bit, and given the lady a scarf. First Fridays are, well, tomorrow, and I've got a few more to change out the gallery space. We'll see what the wind blows in tomorrow night. Might need a scarf.

It Was Fun Tonight
The normally empty studio was filled with wonderful friends, strangers, well-wishers and the just-curious. My First Friday was a great way to start my new studio's opening, and I look forward to have more. They wore stickers that said "All the Fun is at Studio 301" which was a hit.
