Window Works
I live in a small cape coddie, where the wall space is taken up by windows. So, after finishing the facing and sleeve, I wanted to see how it looked with normal furnishings. In the dark of winter and no curtain, it's a good solution for now.

Time to Quilt

More Cutting
The top -- made from a one yard piece -- is assembled. This is an homage to a student Jo (you can call her Shirley) who took my New Big Leaf class and did a wonderful adaptation of it. I cut and reassembled this Skinny Line Leaf to make it just a bit more, like she did.

Double Good
I met Erin this spring at my Glorious Prints class at Pro Chem. To see her again yesterday for the class was bonus. She used the dramatic fabrics she made in the printing class to make her skinny line leaf. It's gonna be good -- send me a photo of the finish!

Skinny Line Leaf Road Trip
I'll be in Delaware next week to teach how to make these little skinny line leaf blocks. It is a great practice in improvisational techniques, sewing a skinny line, and using color. I'll also teach improv quilting at Quilt Surface Design Symposium in Columbus in June. Come and see me!

Old Home Week
We made super fun Bow Tie blocks today, and Becky returned and brought the piece she finished after taking my Skinny Line Leaf class months ago. Loved seeing this and I'm looking forward to seeing her Bow Ties.

Guess What
Perfectly pieced but wrong pieces. At times, we get so enamored with finishing that we forget to look! It made for a good laugh, and the skinny line leaf was soon put right.

I'm Not Kidding This is Fun
Classy, complex, complimentary, clever, chatty, colorful, and cleveland-esque confirms this class today.

Papa, Mama, and Baby Bear
Three different sizes proof a pattern for the Skinny Line Leaf. I've developed it, so that I have an entire leaf for this block. Just have to figure out how. More chairs to sit in, and pots to stir.

Ohio in March
I'm bringing this little quilt I call my Skinny Line Leaf to the series of workshops planned for Lake Metroparks in Ohio next March. Today was photo day for this, as well as deadlines for workshop descriptions. Advance planning -- can I package the summer sun for the ides of March?

Practice a Skinny Line
While in my class in Vermont for the Skinny Line Leaf, Karen did this little practice for setting in a skinny line. We thought it was a great start for a sketch or small composition just as it was. Oh, the possibilities are endless.

Skinny Line Leaf Practice
It has been a few months since I made a "Skinny Line Leaf" so for this Sunday's class (and my Vermont Quilt Festival class) I made up another one. No more room, I hear, in this upcoming class, so come on down to Vermont!

Kindle Kover
Belated birthday gift to the new kindle owner (not me) just in time for summer reading. Nice to use some of that shibori hand-dyed fabric. And that skinny line. Just warming up for next Sunday's class at the Genesee Valley's Quilt Show.

Skinny Line Leaf for Vermont
I'll be teaching at the Vermont Quilt Festival June 25-28. This is a close-up of The Skinny Line Leaf design for a workshop. It's improvisational piecing, a bit of template tricks, and color theory all in one. If you're in the area, join the class! Here is the link: Vermont Quilt Festival 2015

Halloween Likes Skinny Lines
Finished the scrappy Skinny Line Leaf quilt in time to serve up the candy. Now on to the next in the queue.

Skinny Line Leaf with Shibori
Here ya go. Skinny lines, gentle curves, with a half yard of shibori plus a yard of hand-dyed. I'll take this with me when I teach this class. For sure this June at the GVQC show here in Rochester.

Skinny Line Leaf, Now with Lines
In piecing those skinny lines, I figure that I can use 1/2 yard of shibori, 1/2 yard of hand dye. Love the effect, and maybe I'll offer this for the GVQC Quilt Show early June when I teach "The Skinny Line Leaf." Now to connect the blocks, add the frame, and quilt.

Again, With Hand Dyes
Can't leave this block alone. I pulled some of my newly minted hand dyed fabric and tried the block using a half yard for the leaf, and a half yard for the back. Can't wait to add the skinny line.

Won't Be Raking These Leaves
Working out the details for my class on "The Skinny Line Leaf" has me revamping the sizes. And I think it would be great if all the leaves were the same color. Back to the design wall tomorrow. This one I'll quilt up, after I get a nice border on it.
