Time for Fun

Anne was our guest today at the Peeps meeting. She brought the start of a work that will have her free-cut people and houses. I loved that they are set in white, so you can imaging how they will look set together. Nice, Anne.

Time to Gather the Peeps

Today is the monthly meeting with my 'Peeps' and we discuss our work and catch up on what is new (or what is coming back around) in the fiber world. This is Nancy's piece with her lovely African fabrics. The laptop is one member who is a skyping 'head'.

Easy to Talk About Your Work

The crowd leans in. Carol Soderlund is explaining her two works during the opening reception Saturday of my group's exhibition in Newark, New York. Her two, seen just left and center are based on the theme Night / Day and are about the winter and summer solstice.

Meet That Deadline

Ann is finishing the details on her work yesterday for the Newark show. Marcia is our host for the monthly crit group meeting of the Art Quilt People, which is to us just the "Peeps". Deadline? End of next week.

Something Boro, Something Blue

Nancy, one of the Peeps, brought in a boro textile from Japan. These indigo dyed, and ikat woven fabrics are from the 1800s or early 1900s. The distinguishing feature is the patching. I love the handwork, and the fade in and out of the patterning.

Friday Meeting Day

The Peeps got together on Friday. Nancy brought in an African batik, which Priscilla (back from her Indian cow head-butting experience) is checking closely. Glad to have us all back in the states.

Mola Search

The peeps have a mola challenge that will be due this spring. Here is a pile of textiles that I can use for inspiration; but I do have to pick one. I am drawn to the boots on the left (at 10:00) and the pattern inside. So, here I go.

Fiber Peeps Talk Coming Up Sunday

 

My group of fiber artists (we call ourselves the "Fiber Peeps") is set to talk at the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center this Sunday at 2:00 for a trunk show, in conjunction with the Quilts=Art=Quilts. We are Marcia DeCamp, Beverly Kondolf, Jeanne Simpson, Nancy P. Hicks, and Priscilla Kibbee. Linda Bachman is in sunny Florida, but her quilts will be shown. Join us, please.

Fabric Monster

A day with the Peeps at the DeCamp studio and a feedback my next project. Bev and Ann not only have ideas galore, but are having great fun explaining the "form" as well.
