Fashion Show

Tonight's fun was a fashion show organized by Gabby, an RIT student with a theme of Afro-punk at the University Gallery. The style was cool, glittery, edgy, and metallic. Kudos to the crew and support team. I enjoyed the look and the power it brought.
 

Print Club of Rochester

The exhibtion opening of the Print Club of Rochester at RIT had extras for the curious -- a print fair! Richard Kegler is a masterful printer who shared the portfolio of the alphabet as abstracted in color and form. What a treat to see these graphics in person. The exhibition is up till July 20th. 
 

Grid Work

Roger Remington's series of works based on the same grid are at RIT's University Gallery. The multiple versions and all are distinctly different. An honored teacher and influencer at RIT, Remington shows how simplicity generates diversity. Also, the Massimo Vignelli adage: Design without structure is anarchy.
 

End of the Show

Last visit to take down the works and pack up to go. I asked the gallery sitter if he liked the people who came to visit, he lit up with a smile, and concluded that they were fun, liked the show, he did too, and will miss the works. That has to be the best -- a stranger who enjoyed the experience.
 

Gallery Minders

At the gallery, where I'm showing work, there is always a lovely person to greet me. When I say my name, they, every single one, lights up and smiles, declaring that they liked these works. I remembered today to ask why. The answer: they are full of color and make her happy. She'd like one in her bedroom to look at. Perfect answer!
 

Last Days Last Look

It's not everyday this many of my works are in a single exhibition. Here is a selection on the main wall. It's a grand space, lots of air around each piece, with the most beautiful light. Up till October 7 at RIT University Gallery.
 

How Much Fun?

Along with a tour and talk of my exhibition, I got to hang out with this printmaking class of Eileen Bushnell at RIT today. I brought along thickened dyes, fabric and print tools, then I printed. One quiet student said she was 'pumped', I said it was hard to tell. A ton of laughs with this crowd. Thanks!
 

Panorama

Here's a wide shot someone send me of when people were drifting in for the opening reception of my solo show this week. It gives you an idea of the expanse of this gallery's wall. Mind you, my works are 6 to 10 feet wide. Yes, food and music was part of the festivities. 
 

Volume of Space

I think of this volume of space when I visit large museums, so for a gallery space to have this amount of headroom, and wide open space, it is rare. So love the light that is here, not only for it's expanse, but also the quality of the even light spread. Hard to beat.
 

Opening Night

It's a rare night, when the show is all about you. And odd to be the center of attention, with people taking the time on this beautiful day -- clear, cool, sunny -- to come and see my work. So, thank you all. It'll be there still until October 7th. Check the "Plan Your Visit University Gallery RIT" for hours.
 

Evidence

The show must be happening as it is mentioned in the paper! Our local Democrat and Chronicle ran photo and brief description in the weekend arts section. So, there. Now the world knows. 
 

Diffuse Light

I offer the unusual two image post tonight to explain the perfect light in the University Gallery at RIT where my work is now shown. The top image shows the wall perfectly wall-washed with even light, the second the skylights that bounce the incoming light in a box and diffuse it. Wonderful light.
 

Scale

I got in a visit to the exhibition of my work at RIT yesterday. And since my friend was along, I can show how large scale  the work is. It's really great to have a 12' x 12' panel on which to hang these. 
 

Quick Visit

I had a rendezvous at the University Gallery today and was surprised to see the room was set for a banquet. It makes the work look even more important as the sole color infusion was coming from the art. Hope they had a good lunch! 
 

The Lineup

Seventeen works are hung, and they do take command of this space. The one nearest is 'Normandy' from 2016, one that also traveled with Quilt National '17. I'm glad to have the opportunity to show it past that exhibition, as they frequently 'age out' of juried shows.
