Ellen Meeker's work Chairs from the Quilts=Art=Quilts exhibition amazed me. The composition, the subject matter, but more importantly, the exquisite detail and construction difficulty was superb. I'll put her statement below to show how she properly explained this work (and not her entire life).
Contemporary Art Quilter Pat Pauly's random thoughts and excursions made public.

Schweinfurth Artists' Talks
Chriss Johns talks about her large, dramatic work during today's artist talk at the Schweinfurth's exhibit Quilts=Art=Quilts. There was a robust crowd, all engaged with the ideas and processes, plus the extra chance to take in the artworks. It was a day to be energized by the works there, each having a 'say'.

Good Night for Q=A=Q
The opening of Quilts=Art=Quilts was a grand time. I was able to meet so many artists new to me, to find ones I'd not seen in a few years, and to take in a very strong show of fiber work that was creative and varied. Ending the night with a dinner and talk by Juror and Judge Paula Kovarik was icing,

Waiting in the Wings
My waiting wall is for trying out stuff that calls from poking through prints for the main design wall, but strike me and ask for consideration. The right one will be sent to Quilts=Art=Quilts for their silent auction (a mini-me for what I'll be showing there) and the left for the ROCO member's show. When I'm done.

A Show to See
This piece "Canopy 27" by Anna Brown from Bungwahl, Australia, caught my attention. The simple and straightforward assembly, with raw edge applique, along with a hand quilted textural stitch was refreshing. Not to mention the sparse and to the point label message. From Q=A=Q till Jan. 5.

Mini Me
Quilt=Art=Quilt has accepted my work "Congregation" for its next exhibition this November. I've often added a small quilt for their raffle, and frequently this small work mimics the larger one. On the wall I've gathered some prints that will work, but I've got to assemble this soon.

Random Start
With the iron transforming the pieces to order, I made some random blocks. Then added them to the design wall with no part of the wall showing. Now to put and take. Need to get this in the mail, so will press on. This will be for the raffle at the Quilts = Art = Quilts exhibit.

Another Scramble
A large piece of mine was accepted in the Quilts=Art=Quilts exhibit at the Schweinfurth Art Center this fall. These scraps are from that work. I've gathered them to make a smaller work that will be part of their raffle gallery. It's due, and I'm behind!

Just When You Think
...it couldn't get better, the show of Ann Clarke's knitted and fulled rugs upstairs from the Q=-A=Q show at the Schweinfurth just blows me away. These are monumental and graphic rugs that are about time, age, and empathy. So, if you get to the quilt show, head upstairs for a not-to-miss treat.
