Next week will be First Friday. I'll be in Studio 301 at Anderson Arts Building here in Rochester, and will grab all of the silk scarves I have in hand. Can't think I'll get time to make more before then, but who knows. In any case, I'll bring cookies, have some holly music, and show you my latest quilts. Need more?

Cheap Model
How to show off these square scarves was answered by my lovely porcelain head. She works overtime, needs no salary, and keeps her pose. These are on my website shop, are each about 40" square, and are all one-of-a-kind made of crepe di chine silk. Yes, I kept one for myself. Gifting me first!

Payback
The producer/organizer/major force behind the RIT Beyond Fashion visited me during open studio today. She promised to grab one of my scarves, which became a gift from her mom. But I had the most fun doing the collection, forgetting the 2 1/2 week turnaround I had. Hey, who doesn't love a deadline?

Demur Enough?
Trying this out on my porcelain model. Not showing off the best of the scarf, so it's back to the drawing board. And, does anyone use a drawing board anymore? Like how we say 'dial' the phone. Still.

Happy Solstice
This will have to be the stand-in for the earth's rotation from the darkest day of the year, on to the increase in daylight (it's my silk scarf, of course) and a bookmark for the winter solstice. If there's a party, go for it.

Wreath Worthy
You know it's time to hang a wreath around your neck when the weather dips below 35. And the wind blows, and you even need gloves. These are the newest scarves to make it on my web site, and in time, I should say. I'd gift them all to me, if I could, but that wouldn't be the spirit, would it?

Demo Again
During the last printing workshop the question on working with silk came up. I use the same techniques, same chemistry, same methods as in printing cotton or linen. Silk is thinner, ands more wiggly. This I started printing in class, and finished last night. You can see it on the website "shop" under scarves.

Closer Look
No matter how carefully I shoot the photos of my scarves, I know that daylight -- and cloudy light even better -- works to translate the perfect color for the pieces on my website store. So, here is what I sent to someone who asked "just what is the green color?". Leaves for comparison!

Salad Du Jour
I'd taken an armload of scarves to Tahoe and returned with just a handful. They are now parked on my website shop. I'll make more, as I love to gift them for the holidays. Which you might, too. This on is "Salad Du Jour" which is just what I need after indulging in desserts all week.

Time is Now
I've rearranged teh studio a bit, and given the lady a scarf. First Fridays are, well, tomorrow, and I've got a few more to change out the gallery space. We'll see what the wind blows in tomorrow night. Might need a scarf.

New Scarves for Fall
I've just finished getting scarves ready to add to the web site store (maybe tomorrow?) and realize that I was in a definite pink mood. Must be that end of summer heat. And I swear, I really want to print silk for a blouse. Maybe the next time I'm at the print table.

Scarf Support
My printed yards fit comfortably on a square of rigid foam for transporting after I print and sit there till they are ready to be washed. The scarves -- at 6 feet long -- have their own narrow board to fit their size. Makes life easy, and the pieces don't have to fight for a spot in the queue.

Add Scarves to the List
More and more scarves are going to live elsewhere, so I need to make more to add to the website store.
And just when I thought I could work my longarm.

I've silk scarves to pack for my Santa Fe trip. And this just said "Hey, how's about monoprinting?" So, I heard that, and did.

Did I Forget Sunday?
I sat down tonight to see that I missed yesterday. Egads! Sunday was a posting marathon for my online shop. Took me mid-morning to after dinner, but managed to input a dozen silk scarves, about three dozen linen pieces, and about 16 more yards of printed cotton. Must be why I forgot about to post.
