Last Day to Check

Review time we saved for the last afternoon. We circled back to the finer points of rubbing, screen printing, and color additions. And there were more things to revisit. The last day is always the best time to check the mechanics before driving down the highway.

Near the End of the Dye Pot

I've a bit of thickened dye left to use after about two weeks printing on and off. All I really need is one dark, perhaps black, and a fair amount of print paste. That I've got! So, I'm good. But I do have next week to print, and look forward to that. So, might as well get some new supplies queued. 
 

Silkscreen with Soy Wax Resist

Rather than painting soy wax resist on the fabric, I use it to block out the image on my silkscreen. Then I can go to town. Here are the more than half dozen screens I used today to demo various line, shape and pattern images. Now to wait and wash. 
 

Back to the Print Table

Day one of the Go Big, Go Bold workshop for QSDS has the standard demo on rubbings. This yard tries out just about all of the items I could grab. Rubbings were all in black, then I added some golds and yellows. Might be finished, might not.
 

From the Vault

Made as a response to the lack of diversity in tie patterns, this tie quilt came out to help describe how to outline a shape with a thin line in my virtual QSDS Shape, Line, Setting. Monday, new class and new prints.

Just for Starters

Line, Shape, Setting was the workshop today through QSDS. And so -- LINE -- in all its wonderful skinniness. Yes, we also took shape and worked that in. Tomorrow is setting. Or composition, whatever you want to call it. I'm ready.
 

Another They Didn't See (Because They Were Busy)

Started as a print demonstration, I finished this with screening the left to fill where I left off. I'd love to show you the fabulous prints the class made, but can't. The difference from Monday's to today's showed they were paying attention! Thanks my class.
 

The Weight of a Line

Congregation will premier at Quilt National 21 at the end of this month. This detail has that very thin line  forming a barrier between two graphic areas. It's a elegant solution. I teach how to do this in my virtual class "Line, Shape, Setting" and the next classes are July 20-21 with me, or with QSDS on June 5 - 6.
