New Big Leaf Day

With the snow fall, temps in single digits, I spent the day virtually with the Ohio Modern Quilt Guild making The New Big Leaf. I ended with a demo leaf, and I like the quirkiness of it. If I had time, I'd finish, but tomorrow I'll set the stage for a print class, if I can get out of the drive. Still not shoveling.

 

Still Not Shoveling

The lump of snow outside my door is mainly most of my roof (I raked it 2 weeks ago) but the stuff on the chair and table are fresh from the sky. Today was set up day -- gathering what I'll need -- for next week's printing class. And hours and hours of computer wrestling files to send off. Why am I thinking of spring?
 

Before I Shovel the Roof

We've enough snow to trigger a visit from the trusty snow plow, and cue my dance with the roof rake to take off part of the snow load. The rest of the day was organize, get a plane ticket to Australia, and clean up the piles of paper that were heaped from the Christmas clearing. A good new year start!
 

Tis the Season

While working on the back of the quilt, this came in the mail. Means that I need to pivot from raking to getting out the winter decorations. Hope you are ready to pivot.
 

Snow Moon

A snap fill-in for the full "snow moon" tonight. This is page from The New Yorker magazine where the cartoon illustration on the page's reverse layered-in when lit by the morning light from behind. It reminded me of an exhibition of Robert Heinecken's work I remember from an exhibit of the 80s. 

 

I'm Still Here

The day started with a meeting of the Finger Lakes Fiber Artists in Auburn, New York, and finished with a concert of wonderful folk music. I drove home is hazardous snow conditions, made it and parked. After a day with artists and musicians it would a fine last day. But I made it home safely, and I'm here. 
 

Snow Day

We called it a snow day, so cancelled an appointment, had three extra hours to set up tomorrow's virtual class Within the Frame, and polish my evening's lecture, and photo a handful of printed yards for my website store (no, there not there yet, but soooon), and catch up on business, and watch the snow.

 

I Forgot to Take You With Me

I had just left an art opening with delightful, colorful works. And all I captured was the new snow. Not even a great photo, just a record of the nightfall. Sorry my readers, next time I'll show you the before, the exhibit, the art.
 

No Worry

We don't often get off so lightly, but this week we did. While Buffalo was getting a grim deal of snow, Rochester got just a dusting. So, yes, we're about 70 miles to their east, but we're fine. 
 

Welcome Home

It was inevitable, snow that is. And I do live where the inevitable happens. So, let's look for a melt down so I can go out and put my garden to bed. Then I'm back to printing more fabric.
 

When It Snows...

...you make snow shapes. These on my walk today are courtesy of a neighbor who keeps both motorists and walkers  happy to see his latest creation. All of this ends when it melts, but news has it we're getting more. Goody.

Christmas Eve

Who's woods these are I know, they belong to us all. They are in Washington Grove near Cobb's Hill. They are mine for just this moment, captured here in stillness, and then I release them back to those who will walk here next.

I'm Home

We finally got some snow. This I know cause I've looked out my back door. Which means I'm home. You know I travel (a lot this year!) but I'm hunkered down, home, looking for fun. Distract me from my studio, and invite me over,  you hometown chums.

Get Some Heat

Waking to another snowfall, I just wanted to be warm for a while. I headed to the First Friday open house at More Fire Glass Studio to see some fine glassblowing  by David Schnuckel (and sit as close as I could to the furnace). Visit the Studio in Rochester, New York.

Unexpected Greeting

While I was concerned with the snowfall this morning, and the subsequent damage, this hibiscus opened. So, outside was total craziness and gobs of snow; inside was a single bright spot. Life is clearly upside down.

Waiting for Winter

Enough with the green. We needed this statement, so we can all relax and enjoy the break from that weird weather. Wreally.

Making and Baking

Getting ready for a celebration tomorrow, and these trees may be the only thing that looks like it has snowed. This house will be decorated with or without the seasonal white. Stay tuned.
