Show and Tell

Del brought my quilt to class so that we could see it up close. Oregon Rain is well traveled, and I was delighted to see it again. The Mad About Motifs class has been a wonderful unfolding, with one surprising print after another. We've passed the midpoint, and now can really use what we've learned.

 

Gonna Miss Oregon Rain

When I can, I'll switch out  works. I enjoy the details, the connections, and the happenstance relationships I may have not noticed when I built the piece. Oregon Rain (detail here) will not e returning home for me to ponder. It's been chosen by a collector and will have a new home. I hope they study the details too.

 

It's the Top

I've never gotten the Best in Show until today. The Form Not Function exhibit in New Albany, Indiana at the Carnegie Center for Art and History awarded me for this piece "Oregon Rain". Made after teaching in Sisters, Oregon. I didn't know what it was, then saw it was the landscape I'd just left, and loved.
 

Orange You Glad

"Here Comes the Sun" is an exhibition curated by Joe Cunningham for the Iowa Quilt Museum in Winterset, Iowa. My work "Oregon Rain" was a response to orange, a pick for Joe. I'm in great company. It's there till January 23, 2022.
 

Off She Goes

A detail of the work Oregon Rain is here, and the piece is bundled up and shipped off today. It's heading to the Iowa Quilt Museum. Now I've got a week to tackle the rest of my list. Which is growing by the day. Oh, well.
 

Oregon Rain

New Baby measuring in at 6 feet tall and 8 1/2 feet wide is pretty much finished. I'll give it a good press and ball it up to ship out Thursday. The exhibit is at the Iowa Quilt Museum. It really does remind me of that Oregon landscape, all wonderful colors and textures from another world. 
 

Facing is Finished

I brought the work with me on my travels, and now the only remaining part is the sleeve, a signature, a good pressing, and photography. Not much, considering. I'm keen to have this in the box and on the way to its exhibition. I've other things I've got to get to!
 

Waiting for Me

This Oregon Rain piece is emerging as a landscape, so I'm not going to fight that composition. My goal is to get this finished in the week ahead. We'll see if the fate will allow.
 

Chalk is Your Friend

I use few tools, but this marking chalk is the best for indicating my cut lines, and registration for two large pieces. Sometimes it's too cumbersome to move the large sections and while it is on the design wall I can just draw easily. Also great to indicate where to add a pieced line.
