Advance for Needle Turning

I'm floating some shapes and will needle turn applique to do that. Sharon Stroud, a fabulous teacher, showed me the method of basting (she did it by hand stitching) away from the edge to secure the two fabrics. I'll then run my stitch as I poke the turn under, and sew in place. 
 

A Show to See

This piece "Canopy 27" by Anna Brown from Bungwahl, Australia, caught my attention. The simple and straightforward assembly, with raw edge applique, along with a hand quilted textural stitch was refreshing. Not to mention the sparse and to the point label message. From Q=A=Q till Jan. 5.
 

Applique Stunner

I know it's unusual to post TWO photos, but this applique quilt top from Julie Silber's collection is so amazing and fascinating that I had to. Good Looking

And "looking good". Chris Wickert is both. We got to drool over her latest piece, inspired by her oriental rug. This quilt is all silk, with astounding and beautiful hand applique. No doubt you may see it with a big fat ribbon at a national show. I do appreciate the handwork; and Chris is swell, too.
