Ten additions to my online website 'shop' hardly made a dent in the amount. This one was from Art Quilt Tahoe. A demonstration of mixing color yields a piece with several mixes of color, then I add a predominantly background screen over it. This background color is a 'mystery' brown/red I love.
Contemporary Art Quilter Pat Pauly's random thoughts and excursions made public.

Let's Polka
I was gifted yards of silk organza. I will try not to put a value on this, other than 'use it' and so I've soda soaked it and printed it. There might be about 6 yards in this cut. It will take me several passes to get it printed. And those who've met me know how hard it is to print CLEAN. Stay tuned.

Seeing Dots
I started the day thinking about a lecture I'm set to give about motifs. So, I started collecting dots. These hit me when I visited the Portland Museum's exhibit on the Nabis. Right smack in the middle is a scarf with polkas. Dots galore!

Family Matters
It was time to make a little quilt for my grand daughter to play on. I took a yard of printed fabric, and went to town. I smiled all the way, running a drawn stitch over the polka dots. Nothing too precious, just a play quilt for fun.

Spot On
Living large, and polkas all over. Jun Kaneko's ceramic work Polkadot Dango, show at the Everson, hits the spot. And the form reminds me of a Nick Cage suit. It does seem like a figure that would move about at any moment.

Polka Dots in Full Length
I saw this in Montreal a couple of days ago and remembered that as a young girl my mom would make this kind of skirt cake. It seems to be hip even now. But its the polkas that I love. (Oh, now its a happy new year cake, too.)
