Finish Line

The weather was perfect for our week, and we made this clothesline work like mad on the last days. I love what the shadow forms become on the ground. And yes, I did caution everyone not to let their prints bake in the sun longer than to 'dry' as textile art is damaged with sun exposure. Still, nice to have this line.
 

On the Line

A most handy closeline is up and filled within an hour of class's start. Margaret got her piece up and finished, showing how she loves clean, pure color saturation. There is a myriad of styles here, which is so great to see the variations in printing applications. And Coupeville is gracing us with perfect skies
 .

Taking Over

Second day of the print workshop sand the class is using every inch of space for our printing use. Wall, outside parking spots, even the front of the refrigerator. We have printing to do, and gosh, we're going to do that! Tomorow we have a bit of a field day after class, and then more to do inbetween. 
 

Let the Fun Begin

We've settled in the Pacific Northwest Art Center's workshop space with everyone grabbing two tables to print large and bold. The first day had direct scraping on fabric, rubbings and work with stencils. With silkscreens in hand, we'll start to add resists tomorrow and dive into printing more. 
 

Landing at Coupeville

I'll be teaching this week in Coupeville, Washington which is on Whitbey Island. I find it to be so quaint and (though it may sound corney) picturesque, and a lovely way to begin summer. This is from the last remaing warf looking back to the village. Tomorrow is making the dyes, and getting ready for class.
 

Tower of Printing

The latest printing class;s tower -- usually foam insulation boards with plastic cups between -- held wet prints. You've got to love the setting at Gateway Canyon where Alegre retreat was held. We'll do this again for the Schweinfurth's workshop, and use an old fashioned clothesline in Pacific Northwest Art School.

 

Print With Me May or June

Two places with two spots each are open for you and a friend (new or old) to print on fabric. May 29-31 is at the Schweinfurth Art Center for "Just Silkscreens" and then June 15-19 I'll be in Coupeville, Washington at the PNWAS of Pacific Northwest Art School for a week of printing wild. Join me!
 

Ahead Three Steps

I've three places where I'll be teaching printing before we officially hit summer. This are name tags for the third batch of fabric-- the Pacific Northwest Art School in Coupeville, Washington, June 15-19, and before that Schweinfurth Art Center May 29-31, and first Alegre Retreat, Colorado April 27 - May 1. Seats still!

 

Coupeville and Canadians

Here's a typical day at the Pacific Northwest Art School in Coupeville, WA, where I'm teaching fabric printing When I asked today about my July 21-25 class, and my concern for Canada students, I got a reply from the director and board of PNWAS. They are offering a 15% discount on workshops over $330 for 2025 to show that current US policies are not a reflection of the school's policies. Bravo PNWAS!
 

One Motif, Two Ways

My equal starts, separate conclusions -- the homework for today. Made with images I cooked up for this class. I'll take these with me to Santa Fe (March) and Coupeville, Washington (July) for my printing workshops. One spot left in former, a couple in the later.

 

A Bit of Chaos

It's finished and hung. I made it the exact measure of another so that when I travel to the Festival of Quilts to exhibit there, I can suspend them back to back.  And yes, it's called 'Chaos", as it seemed fitting. Good Things Happen

Nicole had a grand time gettiing this designed. We're finally getting cool breezy clear skies, and our work is just sailing on that wind. These prints are large, graphic, and full of color. Friday is our last till next July when I return to Coupeville. Won't be soon enough. 
 

Color

My IG feed has ideas for me. They know I'm interested in color, and that I'll be hot on the color palette this summer at PNWAS in Coupeville, Washington, for a class on printing in color. The color wheel is one of my peeves. I've lots of reasons, and this feed reminded me why. More? Join me in PNWAS.
 

Kind of GoodBye Wave

You can see that the stuff on the tables is full of things to try for printing in this workshop. Sometimes it gets mixed up, and we print ourselves. Most of all, we just have a great time experimenting. My thanks and a wave ta-ta to all the fine folks who joined me for the week's workshop in Coupeville at PNWAS.
 

Printing in Series

This give you an idea of the progression Deb made with her printing Layers and layers, each adding to the composition. So fun to see those spoons change in the body of work she did. 

Oh, It's Crying Time Again...

Who Needs Tape?

In just over three weeks I'll be heading out with my bags packed with 6 shirts and the rest printing supplies for my workshop in Coupeville, Washington. Guess I got enough screen tape to get me through the week. Let's not forget the small things. 

Delivery

I left this box a month ago on Whidby Island off the coast of Washington. It finally found it's way to home. Now I've got the works I printed ready there to decide -- finished and wash, or unfinished and print more. My favorite kind of decision.
 

Good Bye Coupeville

We had a good week to print. Being the last of the season had its oddities, but we weathered the storm, made stuff dry between the rain, and found a few more tricks for printing. Thanks for the intrepid souls who joined me for the week in Coupeville at the Pacific Northwest Art School. I'll be back!
 

Available Light

And they're off! We were intrepid, that's for sure. Starting with Dark, in the Dark, and working with what we had, we made a good day of it. Yes, the heat did come back, as well as the electric, but not till the end of our day. No matter, tomorrow we're ready!
