Flag Day June 14th

It took me a dozen years to add this flag. Tomorrow is Flag Day, and ownership of this symbol is for all citizens of the United States. Thirty years ago my two daughters and I marched with Susan B. Anthony's stand-in from her Rochester home to commemorate her work on Women's Rights. We carried flags.

Of Course

I voted early, as I'll be at Art Quilt Tahoe for the vote day. Glad that we are able to vote every which way -- early, by mail, on the day. It should be this easy for everyone. I could have voted at the Susan B. Anthony museum, but it doesn't matter where, just that I did. I'll think about her a lot, as we should. 
 

The Place to Be

 Seems the night before Halloween one should visit a tombstone. I picked Susan B Anthony's to place my sticker. The stone is covered in a soft plastic "lid" to protect it from the adhesives, and I suspect there will be hundred's more before next week is over. Voting is an amazing right. Thank you Susan.

Susan B and Her Sister

Susan B. Anthony's headstone is next to her beloved sister's. A visit yesterday brought home the bond of family or close friends. They were great support to each other, and strong leaders in their work. The reason why we draw close to those we love this time of year.

Stay-Cation

It was a mid-winter break today with a friend. We found Frederick Douglas (in statue form above), visited Susan B. Anthony's home, and the Memorial Art Gallery, with a few more things throw in for a great day close to home.

Hometown Girl

Susan B. Anthony made her life's work women's right to vote. I voted today on the 100th anniversary of that milestone for New York. And voted in the city where she lived (and voted in 1872) and returned again and again to refuel and return to fight for women's right to vote.

Got Out and Voted

Youngest of the clan voted for the first time. Glad, so glad, that we share the same politics, so that I could speak my mind and not fear offense. Now to wait for the morning's news. And, yes, I think of Susan B., hometown girl, and her fight on this momentous day.
