End of a Project

For months I'd been preparing to sing a 25 minute set for the folksinging groups here. And I did. That was enough for my day, can't wait to get back to my other jobs.

 

Crankies

Last night, at a folk festival here, there was the dearest workshop on crankies. I remembered that Paula Kovarik made a crankie a couple of years back, which is indicative of her bold approach to her work, always experimenting. For sport, find out about crankies, as well as Paula.

Off It Goes

The winner of the quilt I raffled for the Golden Link Folk Singing Society was won and will go off to a home that boasts a proficient guitar player and a wonderful bass player. All the best, and happy to support the Golden Link.
 

Raffle Quilt

Made for a class on Skinny Line Leaf, this quilt is not longer needed for that class. And since it's such a nice piece -- hand dyed fabric, all with my own pattern -- I let it become the raffle for the Turtle Hill Folk Festival for Golden Link's annual festival. Saturday night it's gone! 
 

Raffle Quilt

Years ago I taught a class called "Skinny Line Leaf" and this was an example of the pattern and technique. It's about 70" square, using my hand dyed fabric. A group of mine holds a folk festival each year, and this will be raffled off. I'm happy to support my group, and happy to see it find a new home.
 

Go Out and Play

I could show you the stuff I did on the computer (boring) or in the studio (boring) or plain house maintenance (boring) so instead, a mistaken shot of tonight's singaround playing music with the gang. Way more fun, but this picture -- boring!
 

Music Break

Every Tuesday night for the last 52 years a group gathers for a  singaround. I was lucky to stumble on this merry band of talented folks, and they have managed to improve me as well. When I work with those who admire my proficiency in my art, I am reminded of me and my place in this group. It's all relative.
 

Tuesday Night

Every Tuesday night for almost a half century the Golden Link Folk Singing Society gets together for a sing-around. Now a-days we zoom around. I'm in there somewhere, and yes, I manage to squeak out a song. Thank god it's not recorded.

In Harmony

My weekend was consumed with the Turtle Hill Folk Festival here in Rush, New York. Beside three great concerts were dozens of workshops. One on writing original songs, was an eye opener to compare the composing process to how I would start and edit a fiber piece.

Happy Solstice

It was "Make Music Day" in Rochester, so I did. I joined the Golden Link Folksinging society next door to Rochester Contemporary Art Gallery and helped to compete with the loudspeaker across the street. We all had fun.
