Raffle Quilt

Made for a class on Skinny Line Leaf, this quilt is not longer needed for that class. And since it's such a nice piece -- hand dyed fabric, all with my own pattern -- I let it become the raffle for the Turtle Hill Folk Festival for Golden Link's annual festival. Saturday night it's gone! 
 

Proof is in the Cutting

A few weeks ago I spent a day teaching and wrestling with this pattern. I've gone back to recut and sew this "Skinny Line Leaf" so that it behaves -- this time with freezer paper templates.  I've used a one yard piece of my hand 'painted' fabric. Much better. Also, use steam.

Love Those Skinny LInes

A smattering of skinny line leaves from the quilters at Quilt North in Saratoga County. Hot off the press (preferably with lots of steam to set!) they are today's experiment with improvisational piecing and sewing that skinny line. It was a perfect day.

Redo, Remake, Reinvent

Next week I'll be teaching a class I call "The Skinny Line Leaf." I had a pattern, but never quite warmed to it. So, I've redone the leaf. It will take some improv piecing, skinny lines, and no pins!

Freezer Paper in Four Parts

My block for the Skinny Line Leaf is quite simple, and I've got some great fabric to use. I'll use this for my class at Ocean Waves Quilt Guild next week. The packing begins!

Cut, Sew, Shift

Tackling a new way of handling fabric does not always come easily. But then, sometimes it does. We (in Parksville, British Columbia) took on improvisational piecing, inserting skinny lines, and learning basic freezer paper templates all in one day. You bet we were tired. Tired, but happy.
