Print Studio

I had a request for a 'circle' scarf, so I had to get myself in the wet studio and do some work. She choose this one, which I almost kept for myself, but glad I didn't. I'd like to hold all of them, in fact. There are more on the website store, and I'll bring some with me to Art Quilt Midwest at the end of the month.
 

Scarf VS Shirt

I've two one yard pieces of crepe di chine that were tagged for scarves, but wouldn't it be fun to use as a shirt? Lord knows I've a few more things to get finished before I try more garments, but I can maybe move this up the list a bit, can't I?
 

Screen Time

I've got some screen time waiting for me, and the silk fabric is in. Two kinds of silk scarves are on my table for next week, one that is a round and 60" long, the other a large 42" square. I know we're heading into hot weather, but my calendar calls this task before it heats up.

Cheap Model

How to show off these square scarves was answered by my lovely porcelain head. She works overtime, needs no salary, and keeps her pose. These are on my website shop, are each about 40" square, and are all one-of-a-kind made of crepe di chine silk. Yes, I kept one for myself. Gifting me first!
 

Demur Enough?

Trying this out on my porcelain model. Not showing off the best of the scarf, so it's back to the drawing board. And, does anyone use a drawing board anymore? Like how we say 'dial' the phone. Still.
 

Silk to Make You Feel Dreamy

I've made a handful of printed silk scarves to take to Art Quilt Tahoe. Last time it snowed, so I'll be prepared. My latest twist is that these are square, and the one I'm keeping -- and love -- is so much fun to wear. If only I could keep them all. When I return, I'll make some for the website store. Promise.
 

Silk on the Road

What makes it easy to let go of these silk scarves? Mostly because I own a zillion already. These will go with me to QSDS for the vendor night. Always fun, a bit frantic, and fabulous works from the people who are in classes or there teaching. 
 

Printing Scarves

When I head off to QSDS at the end of this month I'll be bringing printed silk scarves with me. I'm printing the table here using thickened dyes that I've drawn into. My wallpaper brush has the right amount of pressure to smooth over the image. I'll have fabric, too. Look for me on vendor night. Open to all.
 

Splayed Out

Trying to get some silk scarves printed for my excursion in a week or so. Thought you'd like to see how I find room to hang them between two hangers on my clothes line. The pins keep them from sliding. And yes, splayed is operative word.
 

Happy Solstice

This will have to be the stand-in for the earth's rotation from the darkest day of the year, on to the increase in daylight (it's my silk scarf, of course) and a bookmark for the winter solstice. If there's a party, go for it. 
 

Wreath Worthy

You know it's time to hang a wreath around your neck when the weather dips below 35. And the wind blows, and you even need gloves. These are the newest scarves to make it on my web site, and in time, I should say. I'd gift them all to me, if I could, but that wouldn't be the spirit, would it?
 

Printing for the Storm

Snow landed, briefly, in town, so yes, there was a 'storm', but it was mainly in the print studio. I'll be showcasing these silk scarves for the First Friday open house at Studio 301. Any left, and there should be plenty, will travel with me to Art Quilt Tahoe. And snow there is fine, too!
 

Demo Again

During the last printing workshop the question on working with silk came up. I use the same techniques, same chemistry, same methods as in printing cotton or linen. Silk is thinner, ands more wiggly. This I started printing in class, and finished last night. You can see it on the website "shop" under scarves. 
 

Scarves in the Queue

Silk scarves wait in line for me to finish them with a French seam and a bit of the iron. I've a few more to go, but I've put in a long day and am now crawling to bed. I'll sew tomorrow.
 

Selling It All

The second week's vendor night had none of my printed fabric, just my silk scarves. I took home just two, and gifted one on the way. So, QSDS is a great place to find artist made apparel. Heck, you'd come away with a new wardrobe. 

 

Scarves Galore

I've been printing silk scarves for the website store. My goal to have them ready by Sunday. It was time. I've got fabric printed and in the queue, as well as linen. When these are added, I'll be on to next year's calendar. Tonight? Ice cream celebration. Late. but not too late. Right Joan?
 

Silk, Silk, Silk

I forget how beautifully silk takes the dye. Three more scarves were finished and are waiting to hang out in the web site store. I use the same thickened dye formula, same techniques, same color as the cotton yards, but somehow there are so much more lustrous. I wish I could keep them all.
 

Waiting for Dye to Dry

Somehow my silk scarves have been selling from my web site shop and I need to make more. These are printed to silk crepe de chine, and after printing this one, I though it would be nice to draw on it. But it needs to be dry before I take that step. Easy, I've plenty more to do.
 

Four Hanging Around

With a request for a purple scarf I looked at the last batch of silk scarves I'd made. These aren't finished and sewn into a loop, but two were taken, leaving two to go to the web shop. One taken is below.

Make Mine Blue

Advised to make some blue scarves, I did. They are going through the arduous task of photographing, and then they'll make their appearance on my website store. Truth be told, I love each one, and really don't want to part with them. But, they all can't be mine.
