Before I Shovel the Roof

We've enough snow to trigger a visit from the trusty snow plow, and cue my dance with the roof rake to take off part of the snow load. The rest of the day was organize, get a plane ticket to Australia, and clean up the piles of paper that were heaped from the Christmas clearing. A good new year start!

Printing Influentially

Using an old unfinished print (unwashed, still soda in it) I tried some stencils and over scraping to change the feel of the design. It's open for more prints, and I'll try some Wednesday when the Printing Under the Influence workshop continues. Meanwhile, I was happy to stay put as we had about 8" of snow. Here is what I woke up to at 7 am.

I'm Still Here

The day started with a meeting of the Finger Lakes Fiber Artists in Auburn, New York, and finished with a concert of wonderful folk music. I drove home is hazardous snow conditions, made it and parked. After a day with artists and musicians it would a fine last day. But I made it home safely, and I'm here.

Snow Day

In between some longarm quilting and preparing taxes (!!!) I got over to the market for provisions. So, a bit of work and a bit of business for me. This is evidence of my going out, and the fact that the storm wasn't much to worry about.

No Worry

We don't often get off so lightly, but this week we did. While Buffalo was getting a grim deal of snow, Rochester got just a dusting. So, yes, we're about 70 miles to their east, but we're fine.

Loss, and Loss

Yesterday was a large snowfall. This front yard tree couldn't take that amount and split severely. Being on city property, the city quickly removed the limbs and thought they might be back to take down the rest next week. Maybe there'll be new this spring.

What It Looks Like

A metaphor for life -- one continuous twist. This Max Bill sculpture in granite caught my eye last weekend, it's at the Baltimore Art Museum. But I was also going to post a "snow" picture of today's latest dump, and thought this was the same color and weight (figuratively) of what's outside my door.

I Wasn't Kidding

The sun finally came out today, just long enough to me think I was warm while I shoveled. I wasn't. Glad the snow forced  me to stay put and finish that quilt top, and today I made the back. Tomorrow I'll try to slap it on the frame to quilt.

What Was Once Complicated

The simple double exposure of the snow covered head and the kitchen interior would have been multiple exposures and lots of tricks 40 years ago when I was learning photography. Now it's a snap. Happy Snowstorm.
