Pull Up a Chair

Aafke Swart Steenhuis is all about orange. So, no surprise when I found her "Pull Up a Chair" quilt. It's really fabulous. Made by paper piecing, she interspersed Marimekko fabric in places, as well as the frame. The two day quilt show was a hit from the Tompkins County Quilt Guild in NY state.
 

Class Photo

I guess there's a first time or everything. I've taken dozens of class photos -- all gather 'round, let me remember the fun" and today the photo was virtual. I'm tired, but good tired. What a lot of fun, hard, hard work, and lots of design decisions. I'd do it all again.

Full Zoom Ahead

It was not the same as being there, but the closest it could be. My virtual lecture for the Tompkins County Quilt Guild had my lecture, a brief house tour, a demonstration on how to hang a quilt (sans nails), and live virtual show and tell of my work. Almost as good as live. Thanks TCQG!

Farewell Ruth

We met last night to remember Ruth White, a lovely, warm, and always positive woman who loved science and quilting. She knew, and we did as well, that her time would be short. But what she did with that time was a gift to us all.

Joyful Meeting Tonight

Amid the interpretive dance, the song, and the witty "room boxes," there was this embroidery from Carol Reeves for the "What I Do When I'm Not Quilting" program at the Tompkins County Quilt Guild tonight. Me? I was speechless.

Pack It Up

Not until the end of tonight's talk with the Tompkins County Quilt Guild did I remember to take a photo for a blog post. Oh, well, this is reality too. Friends pack me up, and off I go. Lovely to be with my Ithaca peeps, thanks for the wonderful hospitality.

SAQA Foot Square

Ruth White shows her work-in-progress for the SAQA One-Foot-Square auction later this year. The three dimensional piece is uber quilted, and she is fussing with the foam. This from last night's show and tell in Ithaca, New York.

Show and Tell for Jack

The Tompkins County Quilt Guild invited Jack Walsh (art quilt collector) to speak, and after his talk, gave a rousing show and tell. The art quilts came out of the woods, along with some fine traditional works to ground us all. And yes, I am a member of the TCQG.
