It's Binding Time Again

Tool, tips, words of wisdom. That's me. I'm a low tech person, and this plastic tupperware has been around a dozen years. It holds all my junk for hand sewing. The tray holds all the parts and slides along with the stuff collected. I figure each side is an hour, add two more for the sleeve. I'm in the home stretch.
 

Trials that Bind

With hours of impeachment inquiry on, I've got the perfect reason to stay still and sew on a binding. Good thing this is a large quilt. You get my tip for ganging up my tools on a tray, which also holds the TV remote.

Hand Me the Visine

The back of this latest quilt gets some wild and graphic commercial fabric. I've certainly got loads of commercial stuff, and this is so easy to hand sew, it makes a perfect candidate to use. I always say -- use fabric you love for the back , it's often seen.

On Deck

In between this and that (and it was a beautiful weekend) I managed to get the binding and hanging strip sewn on this whole cloth quilt. Now to sign, check for stray threads, and bundle up to send off to the Dairy Barn for their shop. One check off the list.

Binding

For this whole cloth quilt I've cut 2 1/2" strips that I am joining together. I'll lay them across the angle on my cutting mat and freehand cut the angle. Nice to have a guide built right in. Sew, press, then fold in half before attaching to frame the quilt.

Accessorize, Accessorize

Have we talked about these hair clips? My friend Jeanne tipped me on to these. And, no, they are not on the specialty rack at the quilt shop. Just off the shelf at the grocery store. They make sewing on the binding a snap.
