Almost Finished

Of six scarves I've printed, I've gotten five sewn and ready to go. That'll be it for tonight, tomorrow is another day.

Gray Days Clear

With a string of rainy days behind us, the sky cleared today. So, whip out strong, clear color for printing scarves. These are silk crepe and are earmarked for Shop One at RIT.

Summer Long Ago

A visit to the Portland Museum of Art (this last week) and a glance at Wolf Kahn's "High Summer 1972" had me thinking first at the heat and quiet of the land, but now, reflecting back to where I was at that time. I prefer to remember the smell of the field, and the warmth of the sun.

See You Portland

Portland was my last stop after teaching in Eugene and Hood River Oregon. I have a great affection for Oregon, my guess is because each day I spent with pretty wonderful and caring friends --- some I knew, some just met. Hope to return.

Portland Organic Love

Saturday was market day and I got to tag along with friends who knew just what to get and where. Tonight is my last night away from home, and the dinner promises to be superb. Oregon was kind to me, and I can't help but to love it back.

Portland Museum of Art

A new installation on American Realism is at the Portland Art Museum, and a stop there today reminded me why I so love doing this. Some were old friends, some new. The bronze of two very touching figures is by an artist who's label was elusive, so sorry I can't share.

Art With A Side of Quilt

Tamara Staples included this quilted piece in her exhibition "Side Effects May Include" at the Blue Sky Gallery in Portland, Oregon. Based on the pill collection left after the death of her sister, pieces included textiles with graphics made from pharmaceuticals.

Full Moon In Portland

In a friend's house in Portland, Oregon are the shapes we feel comfortable with. Round things, oval things, columnar things. Since we've got the full  moon tonight, here is its mate.

End of the Day

Suzanne finishes her piece made in my class today. Just three fabrics and lots of shifting and work yielded a great study in improvisational piecing. Lots of fun, really lots, and sketches galore. They learned all I knew, now they're off to do it again!

The Autumn Will Wait

There was a glamorous day outside in Hood River, but more beauties inside with the New Big Leaf. Or at least, that was my perception of the class today. Talented, quick quilters all, a few leaves were completed, no doubt to compete with the fall color.

Meeting My Doppleganger

Isn't life funny? Pat Pauly is my host while I'm in Hood River. I'll be teaching two workshops for the Columbia River Gorge Quilters and I'll be staying with Pat Pauly. Yes, there is another Pat Pauly.
