Visiting the Professor
Roland Wise was my painting teacher when I studied art at Buffalo State in the 70s. The Burchfield Penney Center is showing several of his works with an emphasis on the interiors he painted. As my professor, he was kind to say he hoped I would become a painter. I think I did.

Tag 'Em
I'm getting ready to teach Glorious Prints at Pro Chemical and Dye, and I'm marking my pfd cotton with squares of tyvek (used as post office mailers) to add a name, the type of fabric, and what I've done. Also, to make sure I get my pieces back.

Gallery Visit Today
The Burchfield Penny Art Center's piece from Robert Lyell Flock Untitled, 1981, was one of the works that stood up and asked for attention. Though I studied at Buffalo State, where he taught, I never met him. Wish I had. He passed away this year.

Sleeve Me Be
Sleeves again! I sew a tube, press it, and lay it with the seem allowances facing the backing. That crease gives me the mark for rolling it up 1/4" and sewing the bottom. Now I've got a pleat to take up the depth of the hanging rod.

Time Out
Frederic Law Olmsted's Highland Park in Rochester is where thousands (my guess) of lilacs live. There is a festival each year with mobs of people. My choice is to visit early and see the marvelous yellow magnolias. Then commit to memory that yellow shape.

On Deck
In between this and that (and it was a beautiful weekend) I managed to get the binding and hanging strip sewn on this whole cloth quilt. Now to sign, check for stray threads, and bundle up to send off to the Dairy Barn for their shop. One check off the list.

Raking Light
I've got a work over my couch that only gets light late in the day, and only in Spring, when no leaves are on the tree. This will soon head to an exhibition, and I'm soaking it all in until it has to leave.

What Shows and Tells
Jenna was at our club's meeting yesterday, and this Shibori Half Square Triangle quilt came out for show and tell. We made this in a class at least 4 years ago, and I'm always glad to see a project finished, especially one that I had a hand in! Nice going, Jenna.

Monoprint for Distraction
My studio divides in half from the sewing side to the dyeing side. So, distraction is just a turn away. Yes, I should be designing, but hey, how about those dyes that need to be used up? Monoprint gets some color wash over it -- just an excuse to use up the thickened dyes.
