Comb Over

Actually, more like a brush-off. I found a short bristled wallpaper brush is perfect to smooth the backside of my monoprint. I've got thickened dye on a sheet of plexi, and silkscreened circles, too.

Chores

Mow the lawn, check. Weed the garden, check. Hang up soda-soaked linen for tomorrow's printing, check.

Moon Standin

This moonflower will have to fill in for August's end, unlike last year's full moon. My submission for Quilt National is in, and I'm turning my attention to other work. This bloom will be gone by morning.

Friends at the Gallery

It was an opening last night at Main Street Arts Gallery in Clifton Springs for an invitational print show. I went to see how six artists use printing to compose and transform. These women took it all in, and confirm looking at art is better when you can trade notes with a friend.

Photography

Had I means, I would hire out the photography. A lampstand is a birchbark lamp base, the tripod (circa 1975) marks the middle of the work, and lights are clipped to the joists overhead. Cropping makes the method is invisible.

A Man, a Pnal, Panama

Work goes on, albeit slowly, building the left orange side of the latest work. Funny how it seems random when finished, but shifting and replacing  to get there endless.

Plywood Plywood

Sam Gillian's work Fishing Well has painted surfaces on plywood. The constructed quality and the overlapping forms reminds me of the improvisational works I love. Seen here (on right) tonight at the Memorial Art Gallery with loads of newly placed works.

Maybe This, Maybe That

Moving, cutting, rearranging. Might as well do that for a while. It's what people think I do, anyway. This time, yes. Other times, no.

Joyful Meeting Tonight

Amid the interpretive dance, the song, and the witty "room boxes," there was this embroidery from Carol Reeves for the "What I Do When I'm Not Quilting" program at the Tompkins County Quilt Guild tonight. Me? I was speechless.

Oh, Well

This is not the first rejection I've been handed. So, it's time for some self pity, a bowl of ice cream, and tomorrow, back to the drawing board. I'll be curious to see Q=A=Q, and who is in my spot!

Glass and Gold

Olivia Kim explained that her glass head was made with gold that shared the same ability for light reflectivity as the glass. Or, that is how I remember it. I admit to not paying attention, to just be in awe that the process was so complex, and the art so appealing. This at Sonnenberg Arts in the Garden.
