Sewing Day at Marcia's Studio

Just a glimpse at the expansive studio that Marcia has to work in. She is trying out a border on one piece, and the unfinished work on the right is looking for its resolution. Nice to spend the day sewing amongst friends.

Pinned Up

I am finishing one half of "The Stalker" and getting it ready for its binding. I pin the work to the design wall, spritz it with water, and wait till it is dry. Today I sped up the process with a space heater. Side benefit? I was comfy, too.

Strangers In Paradise

For those who were with me in Hudson River Fiber Art Workshops and Fort Myers, here is the final version of what I had been working on. It is now hanging in the exhibit at RIT, and will be there until January 13, 2012. Strangers? Because that is how I felt at Greenville and Fort Myers. But in Paradise.

Love That Line

Maybe it would not be as crisp and clear without that water background, but the line of this branch is so beautiful and sharp. I would love to capture this in a quilt. Taken at the Six Mile Cypress Slough in Florida.

Chihuly at the Eastman Theater

Lit up wonderfully is this Dale Chihuly glass sculpture installed in the lobby of the Eastman Theater. Fitting imge for the Nutcracker tonight. (My vet daughter thought it more resembled worms).

Slow Progress

Pieces (of my work above)  are resisting for sure. I am working on one that could replace a quilt now on exhibit that will be traveling for a show this winter. Many of the fabrics were made during the summer experiment time -- discharge, stamping, dying. Let's hope the finish is pleasing.

Missing the Turkey

He would eat the turkey if there was one. He has to settle for just what he has at hand. Here is a Happy Thanksgiving to all -- no matter who makes up your family.

Glob of Rubber Cement Speaks

This wonderful letter written by a blob of rubber cement (created by Tom Boyce) can be seen at the Bevier Gallery at RIT. The show highlights work of school of art graduates of 1979. Most interesting is how they (classmates) looked then and now.

George Under the Needle

For those who love to see those progress shots, here you are. I am adding to "The Stalker" and need George W. for "texture." That is the new buzz word I learned this week. Texture.

Closer Look at Quilt Inspiration Group

This photo shows the mob scene  after a QIG trunk show at the Schweinfurth. Angela is describing her work, a felt based, fused printed, felted, needleworked image. Very intriquing to me as well as Caris. And how serious we are! I told Angela that there are drugs you can get to overcome this obsession. Unless the obsession is the drug.

You Can Pet the Coat..

...but don't touch the quilts at the Schweinfurth. Here is Liz, to the terror of Priscilla, getting close to Marcia's wonderful coat. It is all right, the coat can take it, Priscilla. Quilts=Art=Quilts is on view until January 8, 2012.
