Nancy's hand dyed fabrics wait to be selected for her composition on the first day of the two-day "Cutting Up the Pretties" class at Marcia's. There was so much smoke in the air, I almost had to run for the fire extinguisher. Day two will have no thinking!

"Genesee" at High Falls

I made this for the Greentopia event this week at High Falls in Rochester. It is about 12' high and 24' wide, and flaps in the breeze. My thanks to Scott Grove for including me, and to WXXI for letting it hang from their roof. Go see it if you can. Till next Monday, I guess. The festival is the 15th and 16th.

Clothesline at Memorial Art Gallery

The annual art festival at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester brings out fine art and fine craft. These tables are a doozie. How could anyone who loves pattern resist these?

Fish Fry Fridays

Yesterday my friend Anita was in town, and her wish was for that upstate New York fish fry. This was Jeremiah's version on a bed of sweet potato fies. Brought back memories of growing up near Buffalo. For both of us.

Genesee Falls Backdrop

Behind me (as I stand on the Pont de Rennes bridge) is the Genesee Falls, just north of the Rochester's downtown. My work "Genesee" mimics the falls, and I install it Monday. Just checking the real thing today for accuracy. Ha.

Take Time

Sweet punctuation to the end of the day, I saw this rose at dusk. A nice rememberence of this time of the year, this bloom makes me stop and reflect. Something you have to do at least once a year.

Along the Erie Canal

School's in session, and it's time to hit the water. Three boats of Pittsford Crew members go past us while we dine al fresco. This is the Easy Life.

Now for the Real Thing

Loaded and ready to shoot. Working on a piece that was built earlier this summer, but now can get it finished. Hopefully in time to send off to inquiring jurors. Ha! Tock, tick.

Just Don't Look at the Back

Test run on the new longarm, and yes, the front looks fine. But whoa. The Back is another story. "Tension to be tamed" will be on the works for tomorrow.

Labor Day Parade

The fire truck lead the way, a couple dozen kids on decorated bikes rode past, and an ambulance brought up the rear. The Longmeadow parade around the circle was the event of the day. Perfect way to relax. Tomorrow it is back to the studio.

Pepper Your Life

Time to visit the Public Market downtown Rochester. This basket did not make it home with me, but I do have the fixins for ratatouille. Come on over.
