The Break

This was the only photo I took today. I was happy to be home making my own cup of coffee, and anticipating getting my list of items checked off. That wasn't to be, but a few were finished. I'll get to the rest tomorrow. And I did enjoy this cup.

Missed the Deadline

I'd promised my daughter two pillowcases for her 24 x 24 pillows. I got one finished on Christmas day. The second waits. A poor photo here, I'll get the finals later. I printed linen in the same color way and graphic as her duvet cover. I like them so much might have to made more -- for Mrs. Claus!

Being Company

We were entertained last night when we stopped in to visit good friends. Their granddaughter was busy entertaining her dolls in a tea party. It's what we do -- get together, mark the passages (oh, new baby since last year?) and remember that friends and family are what it's all about. Hope your eve is lovely too.

Skirting the Issue

Now that I've an artificial tree (no need to water) I can use fancier tree skirt stuff. I've a drawer full of embellished Indian skirts (lehengas) that are the perfect spark. This one is my favorite set of colors.

Winter Cheer to You

A day with friends and family, certainly. But from my house I think of my very fun and wonderful other family I've acquired these past years teaching and traveling. Cheer to you all! May you have a lovely season of warmth.

Time for Trimming

This tree waited untrimmed until there were TWO of us (only daughter able to make it home) to hang these ornaments. That little porker is dated 1980, so he's been around a while. But then, so have I.

Chocolate Reward

I spent over four hours writing for a publication that will be seen in the new year. So, I've nothing to show you save for the reward at the end of the day. My friend saved me the dough, I just did the rolling and baking. Reward, even without icing.

Comparisons

We constantly compare what we do to what someone else does. No, this is not my tree (mine got straightened in its base and lit today) but Rochester's iconic Liberty Pole tree. You can see it for a mile; mine can be seen only if you're walking by. I'll finish decorating when I've got family home.

Stocking Stuff

It has to be at least 25 years since I made these for my relatives. But it's been a request to add two more for a nephew and his son. So, these took my Sunday. Hope they like them. Mail tomorrow.

Giving

What do you gift a fabric lover at Christmas? A round tablecloth -- bright, graphic, lively --  for the next gathering. Because I didn't have one, and they knew that. To  host the next bright, graphic and lively event. Merry Christmas all my blog visitors!

Too Many Cookies

I've made these Cucidate for the last, oh, fifty years. Today I made this year's batch, and managed to 1.) eat a dozen or so and 2) forget to post last night. So, here's to forgetting, and I'll check in later this eve!

Color for the Season

At the downtown Rochester public market today, I had to record the holly berries and the greens waiting for decorations. It does not get any brighter.

Christmas Presents

My hibiscus tree was decimated by my deer friends, and so I pruned it severely, repotted it and hoped for the best. Today it thanked me with two gorgeous blossoms. Merry Christmas!

Cookie Day

Since forever I have made cucciddati for Christmas. For the past handful of years I have made them with friends Nancy and Varsi. My job is to man the ovens and do the frosting. Here they are loaded and ready to go home. Lucky if you get one, for sure.
