Day Off

I love September. Not yet ready to turn on the heat, happy to let the garden go to seed, finding time to get small things taken care of, and happy to be back in the studio (before it becomes too cold to work in there). So, a day to find music, gather with family, enjoy this strange warm weather. You too, I hope.

Discharge Day

The perfect day to get together with a friend at her house by the lake and discharge fabrics. We're using predyed or printed fabric with bleach cleaner products. I've tried screens and rubbings, and at this moment my fabrics are in the wash Best with natural ventilation, and the view certianly helps!

Running Errands

After the crunch to finish the fashion show, I realized several tasks needed care. So, checking off items on the list meant a trip through the finger lakes south of home, by about an hour. I headed back as darkness fell, with enough light to capture the view of Canandaigua Lake looking north. It's a grand landscape.

I'm Not Sailing Away

There is a project that I've been working on, unrelated to my fiber work, that takes me about an hour away each week or so to Canandaigua at the southern edge of the lake of the same name. It is a gem of the Finger Lakes, and as I pass this each time I am there, I made a point to walk the lake path.

Pastoral Break

Returning home from visiting family, my route took me up and over the hills of the Finger Lakes and as I started downhill these lovely ladies cam into view. You can just make out a lake far off, that's Canandaigua. We have water, we have green, we have vistas.

Time Out

Sunday is supposed to be for getting out and about. So, with my prints processed and washed, I headed out to the hiking trail. I was determined to use my cheap gas to get out of the city limits. Easy to do. Tomorrow is a work day, soon enough.

Meeting Up

Yesterday was a meeting of art quilters based near the Finger Lakes in New York. We are privileged to use Schweinfurth's open flex space to meet, and these foam walls for showing work. Whether a piece in progress, like Liz Anderson's at left, or my hunk of printed linen, at right, it's always great discussion.
