Bit of Travel

I can't leave California spirit yet, though I'm home. An entire day was looking at art, and mainly female artists. The Mary Cassatt exhibition was at the Legion of Honor, a grand place in itself. I tried to capture the Golden Gate Bridge in my meager shot, and it'll hold the memory of that landscape.

 

Super Moon

I'm still in the land of super everything -- sun, amusements, gardens -- and as you all know, can't get a good image of the full moon on my camera. So I offer a garden ornament from Lotusland in Santa Barbara for a fill in. Should you be near this fabulous garden, don't pass it by.
 

Coastline Walk

It was time to walk along the California coastline. I'm intrigued with the color pallet, and stopped to see this green showing so unusual among the sand, beige, black and white rocks. A strong palette. 
 

More Getty

What I did find interesting at the visit to the Getty Museum were the gardens and landscaping. It rivaled the architecture for interest, line, texture, and flow. I don't thing one could exist without the other.
 

The Getty

I'd asked about seeing the Getty Museum since I saw it from the highway last year. It's a conglomeration of white buildings and lots of fabulous architecture with some galleries here and there of mainly European art. And few contemporary works. At least not where I could find. Still, a beautiful campus.

 

Coastline

One of the views of the California coast on the perfect November day. It was a time to unwind and soak up the sunlight. We also managed to grab a hot dog, and a few art supplies for later in the week. My idea of doing nothing well.
 

Farewell For Now

We got a last walk in on the beach in San Diego, almost in sight of Mexico. One of the printers in the workshop is shown here; she'll return to the cold and snow, as I will too. I'll remember that this land includes us all. Thank you again to the Californian hospitality, and hope to return again.
 

The Other Coast

Leaving behind the east coast seemed difficult for about 30 minutes. Just enough time to remove my down vest, whip off my cashmere sweater, and adjust my eyes to the glow of clear skies and a grand vista. I'll be here in the land of succulents, and taking lots of notes on plant forms for motifs. And more.
 

Happy Family of Artists

I don't offer the same photo to IG and FB, but this is an exception. It's an amalgam of the friends who were on my three week journey out west. I had a ball --  rain, shine, snow, and power outage. Happy thanks to everyone who shares their family with me. 

 

At the Water's Edge

I've made it to the Monterey Coastline in the sweetest town there is. I see why California has such a pull for so many. And it is my good fortune to be able to visit. More sights tomorrow.

 

Reverse Moon Scape

A simple stone/shell/lump on the beach is this month's stand-in for the Full Moon tonight. It's all perspective; sand for atmosphere, dimples for craters. This planet is getting some needed rest now, but perhaps phasing back to "normal" may include kindness to earth as well. Let's hope.
