You Know It's Summer...
When there is enough daylight to do at least five things after dinner. Just minutes from taking this shot I was in the water below paddling the Erie Canal (yes, that Erie Canal). There are plenty of diversions around to keep me from my work. It's summer.

Along the Erie Canal
A short walk from my house, along the old section of the Erie Canal, is the site of the Odenbach Shipyard, which made barges for use on the canal. Later, it made barges for landing craft in World War II. It would make a great movie location for something creepy.

Rusting Away on the Erie Canal
Nothing like the effect of nature on metal to heighten your color sense. Maybe not if you were into banking or philosophy, but for me (or any other visual artist) this is food for the soul.

The E-ri-e is a Risin'
They drain the Erie Canal in the fall, and fill it back up in the spring. So, now we are happy to watch the canal boats. That and a dramatic sky are the scene for today. This is just a walk from my house. Ha!
