Why Stencils?
I give you a glimpse into the studio, where I hang a piece of printed fabric each day I'm there. Today I answered an email question from someone who will printing virtually next month -- why need stencils. Searching long for an example (found), then came to work and it was staring at me, upper left of center.

The End of the Day
The day's end should have a glorious sunset, at least. But today was constant drizzly rain. Fine here, as I was in the studio teaching all day. This is what was on my table and hanging up on the line. We did stencils, rubbing, and a ton of scraping color. More tomorrow.

Two Hundred Years in Great Shape
Thursday I visited a historic landmark in Naples, New York that has original stenciling from the 1800s. I admired these shapes from work I did 30 years ago, and finally got to see them. Still thrilled to see those flat, cut out shapes. And notice the leaves? Love them leaves.

Susan's Stencil
I lusted after a stencil that came to my class last month, and (with pity) was gifted the lovely plastic cutout. This is one yard treated by rolling thickened dye over the stencil, along with printing it "inked" with thickened dye. The hand is beautiful, the colors rich.
