Because Toronto is a bonafide metropolis, it's got a fabric district. And you can sight see the fancy fabrics all you want -- no charge for browsing. These beaded lovelies went up to $450 Canadian now and again. But they were indeed beauties.
 

Sunday's Visit to McMichael

On our returning trip from Toronto to Rochester, we stopped in the McMichael Gallery in Kleinburg, Ontario. Boasting a collection of the Group of Seven, I was pleased to see First Nations works as well. Several Northwest Coast people's works on display, and contemporary works that bridged the centuries.
 

Bojagi Start for the Day

The SAQA conference in Toronto ended the morning's talk with a fashion show of Bojagi style garments. Each one was compelling, colorful, and crafted with precision. I had a wonderful time, am filled to the brim with new ideas, and so happy to spend a weekend in Toronto. Happy even in the rain.
 

How Do You Look Clear?

Working on my SAQA Toronto lecture has me finding examples to hammer down the point that your work needs to look strong and clear, and definitely made with the same hand. This selection from Marshall's is a good illustration of randomness.

Better Part of the Day

The most productive part of the day was working on my lecture for the SAQA Toronto conference next month. My talk will most likely be given just this once, but I want to sound like a seasoned sage. That means over-learning the points.

More Hard Work (and Lots of Fun)

Just Face It

Chairs for outdoors (choose black or white) in the public space at Toronto's Distillery are giant faces. They are about 5 feet high, and make quite a statement. Love 'em.

Window Dressing

There is an art to window dressing. I like the use of just some of the space, leaving all that framing surround. What is up with those random red lights on the awning? Seen in Toronto on the way out of town last week.

Toronto on the Run

Remind me next year that this is one way to use all those white lights. Passing quickly through Toronto to pick up daughter #2 at the Greyhound terminal, I saw these near Eaton Center. Que Frivolity!
