Last weekend I went a burial ceremony. Funny how we deal with Halloween and the frivolity of death, ghouls, ghosts, spirits, transformations, and plain 'ol spookiness. Maybe it's the mindset of current events. Death is unchangeable; allegiants are not always absolute.
People we loved dearly are buried in cemeteries, but it is ghouls that reside there now, supposedly. Very strange. I like the Mexican tradition of celebrating our ancestors at Halloween.
ReplyDeleteI've got to learn more about the cemetery movement mid 1800s that made visiting an excursion or even 'picnic' site. Olmsted designed one in my city that is beautiful. Susan B. Anthony's site is there, as is Frederick Douglas'.
