For about 60 years now I've baked Italian cookies (cujadate) and each time I've burned the walnuts, instead of toasting them. Perhaps that should be on my gravestone "she always burned the nuts" or something similar. And I'm not kidding -- every year.
I do the same with the sesame seeds for a salad recipe. I've given up and written it into the recipe: Burn 2 T of sesame seeds, throw them out, redo it while standing RIGHT THERE and not answering the phone. Happy holidays!
